Not sure if you are being serious here

You say Jam had just arrived on the scene along with Stranglers …….in 1982?
The Jam were calling it a day in 82 after arriving on the scene in 1977, The Stranglers had also been on the scene since back then.

Duran Duran and Soft Cell, am I reading that correctly, 70s hangers on? Both 80s acts.

Glad I read on and checked for other posts as I was going to say the same re The Jam (who I saw for the first time in 1977) and The Stranglers

Having seen several of Robert and Toyah's sunday lunchtime sessions over the last couple of years, how amazing would it have been to have Toyah in King Crimson? Absolutely mindblowingly batshit crazy.

In a non-singing role, definitely :lolol:

At 74 next birthday, it was the late ‘60’s and the ‘70’s for me.
Of course there was some good stuff later on, but it is back to the Summer of Love in 1967 that really reminds me of all those good times and music.

Were you at the Embassy gig on Western Road? Apologies if we've had this conversation before.

Yes I knew they formed back then but didn’t release anything until 77

That's correct

In 1975 they playing gigs in the Surrey area

And by 1976 they were prolific on the London pub scene

They played at the Alhambra in January 1976,the earliest Brighton gig I can recall

Is that the best you can do, after being slapped around like a wet haddock in the bear pit?

Dear oh dear.

You don't need to flap at me. You have already won, with Brexit, Johnson and even Farrage brightening up the airwaves :lolol:

Get your pitchfork and trot along to Seaford beach, and spear some illegal immigrants, why don't you? It's a moonlit night. You never know, there could be some romance in the air, know what I mean? ???

When did they play the Buccaneer? I met my first wife there at a Wrist Action gig

“Some of the legendary big bands played Brighton in the same year. At the Buccaneer: “Stranglers in the evening – hard rockin’ punks. Crowded, loud, claustrophobic and exciting” (4th April, 1977). They were back again at a grander and pricier venue a few weeks later: “Then the Stranglers (at the Rank). Schlitz at 54p but a fine band”

Thanks for that.

If any of the old timers on here remember Ruth and Tracy, pals of mine from the late 70s, they were both somewhat disconcerted by 'feel like a wog' at the Buccaneer. For the obvious reason. ???
