was in my year out from Polytechnic - remember work stopping in office several times in summer to listen to cricket. Also remember getting drunk in Margate on day of the royal wedding - didnt actually seen any of it.

Working socks off for A levels and off to Uni that September.

Playing bar billiards and pool at the Prestonville, table tennis in the Bath Arms.

Great summer on the beach, setting heading keepie-up records and watching Sussex come so close to our first County Championship.

Thrashing Palace in the top division and sending them down. Winning at Sunderland in the last few minutes and going mental listening on the radio. Fozzie scoring to beat Leeds in front of a full North Stand and keep us up.

Falling in love with my missus.

Specials, The Beat, Jam, Smiths, Teardrop. Great soundtrack.

What's not to like? Hating Thatcher with a passion.

I saw that at the Top Rank suite, Brighton. Liked the music but the film stuff was pretentious twaddle. Can still hear the bass reverbing at the end of A Forest.

I can tell you the worst. Being suspended from school for putting a woman's windows through. I was stupid enough to do it on the way home from school. She recognised the school uniform and by some bizarre quirk of fate I was the only ginger haired kid. They finally got me to confess, I was suspended and my dad beat seven shades of shit out of me. On the plus side they negelcted to give me anything to do in my enforced leave so i had a few weeks holiday and went up the kudos stakes with my peers at school.
