Definitely 'Villains' - Phil Collins wouldn't have got time on the big screen but for them.

Seriously though:

a) it wasn't their money they nicked
b) didn't the train driver get coshed?
c) an innocent man got jailed and the robbers could have done something - but didn't
d) they were pretty incompetent as most got caught

Ok it was a daring robbery that made huge headlines for being the biggest at that time. In return the establishment made examples of them by dishing out some 30 year sentences. The media turned Ronnie Biggs and Buster Edwards into loveable rogues / celebrities but they were just criminals.

Scum. Famously "regular guys, family men". No, they love their families but would mow down any of yours to get money. Incompotent and violent. Grim.

Er, villains. Never found anything remotely appealing about them.

Biggsy is a legend. Not condoning the robbery, but the 30 years he was given for it was beyond disgusting. To think he went on the run for so long, then sat in Rio sticking two fingers up at the establishment when it was revealed where he was and could legitimately stay there, then handed himself in when he saw fit, then got released before he could kick the bucket.

The man was never a gangster, he was never suspected of being responsible for the assault on the driver, but he was a top bloke for the way he gave the plod in this country the run around.
