The question is "why introduce a special one-off commemorative shirt for the Spurs game and then tell you that you can't wear it". Absolute bonkers :lolol::lolol::lolol::lolol:

No it's not. The question is have the club been misleading people. The answer to that is yes. Personally I couldn't care less as I'd would pass their dress code even at away games but I heard what they said and its not what they are saying now so I can see why some (scruffy ;-) ) people are cross about it.

Yeah but it's Rodney and Grandad I'm worried about. Plimsoles and a Parka......And if Gramps passes the grubby beard check by the doormen how long will it be before he is chucked out of the lounge because his medals are not polished enough or because of his stories of the war he is evicted for encouraging violence.

Sorry to be picky but that was Uncle Albert not Grandad.

Exactly. That is why I dontunderstand why we were told otherwise. I don't own a replica shirt but I know others in 1901 who do so that is why I asked the question! Another " untruth" on the open day. The rules would have been agreed and printed by then so why contradict them?

To put things in perspective, take a peek at the Disabled Parking thread.

To put things in perspective....for you.

"I am as frustrated as the rest of you; I have had numerous conversations with numerous people at the club and have been given a lot of differing and conflicting information." As a disabled person you have a legal right so the lies you have been told can be resolved. The club will have to bow to that. The fact that I have handed over my savings and committed to a monthly amount but I seem to have no legal grounds is quite different.. I made this decision based on information given to me by the club I have been left me high and dry. That is clearly my fault as i should never have been so naive to believe that the clubs representatives would consciously mislead me. Still at least I can now hope that you can have a crumb of empathy at my disappointment of the unprofessional approach of the club even though your case is, of course, far more serious than mine.

Hardly left "high and dry" - you've just been asked to wear some (very mildly) smart clothes. I can't help feeling that some people are having an over reaction to something that is at most slightly annoying. We seem to do outrage very well in this country.

I'm in the 'mildly annoying' camp. Personally I'd keep the rules as they are but allow Albion home shirts. It's a football match and I find it hard to believe anyone's 'client' who wants to go to a match and be wined and dined will be offended by that. If they are, they really should get a life. That said, I'll just stick a polo shirt on instead of a t-shirt.

Far more serious is the complete disappearance of the promise that 1901 club members would have first call on their seat for ALL events at the stadium. That was one reason for paying £1000 for the licence. Now that seems to have been modified to all football events - no mention of what happens for concerts. If there's someone decent on and I don't get first option, I will be mightily annoyed. Maybe I've misread the terms but it's not what I heard in the first place...

We were also told this. That's how I sold it to the wife as well!

In terms of clothing, I'm a bit disappointed about the shirts as it affects my son rather than me. Are 'new' jeans smart denim? Are 'VANS' considered trainers?

Check the dress code in any other hospitality area at a football club and it is almost identical to ours.

I can see you're upset and frustrated. But being honest, I'm struggling to get worked up about this particular issue which affects me as well as you. I hope you can somehow resolve your issue though. Failing this, why not highlight your grievance and demonstrate the absurdity of the dress code by bowling up in a huge pair of comedy clown shoes or something? Just an idea.

I wore brand new black vans to the selling pitch and black converse to the open day. Were told both were ok. Also told smart, not ripped jeans were ok. Also disappointed about the other events but just another piece of misrepresentation by the club.
On the no sports shoes theme why didn't the club present us with the dress code at the open day. And more importantly why doesn't it say "shoes only" if thats what they expect?

I've done corporate at a number of away games and never worn shoes and have not had a comment let alone refused entry. In fact in some they allow White trainer(and it wasn't Gillingham!) not that I would own a pair let alone be seen in a pair!

Spoke to Paul Rogers the other day. He says it's a guideline and won't be enforced unless people turn up looking a complete state. Also said the replica shirt point will be voted on by the members at some point

The club is clearly relying on the usual bottlers to fall into Line and go quietly.
I will be wearing exactly what I did on the open day. If I am refused entry I will ask to see someone in charge and ask them to explain why seeing as I have already had it confirmed by the club that what I was wearing is appropriate for the 1901 areas. I can't see that that will happen as they are not going to employ fashion police. If they do I will ask them to explain which sports my footwear are designed for. Come to think of it what do you do if you turn up in golf shoes???
Is sitting in the 1901 club a sport now?
