Gilliver's Travels
Peripatetic
Whatever else, it's pretty certain that far more Boro fans are travelling from Teesside today than would Albion fans from Sussex, were today's fixture at the Riverside.

Listening to those on the train, none have come from Boro, all London and a group from Brirmingham.
Yep but you listen to the press trot out "all those Boro fans making the long trip from the North East". I always chuckle when I hear this drivel.
All from London
Their cup final
Middlesbrough a shit tip
All utter bollocks, we just need to admit that's different level if they bring anything north of 1500! As I said on a thread last week it makes our 1300 at derby look noddy![/QUOTE
Nobody said "all from London" just the simple truth that a very large proportion will be from London and the south east. This will be a game that those Boro fans will have targeted when the fixtures came out. Do you really deny this? As for away support well we had 3000 plus to Chesterfield a few years ago in the 3rd or 4th tier. Now that is an impressive away support given the migration has been north to south and so the number of our fans who moved north is far less than the other way around..
That 3000 was bloody impressive but that was years ago when everyone wanted to go away because of pitiful withdean, we had a mentality of taking over towns and our away support had a different make up. We just don't have that now which is a shame as away games are my favorite part of going to the footie.
And it depends what you mean by "large proportion" as to whether I agree with you? If they bring 2000 I'd imagine around 400 are from within an hour from here.

Agree with allot of what you said there, but not about the Boro support. They are tipped to go up and bring around 1800. Its good but whilst we will never know, there will be a large amount not just from London the home of 9 Million people plus many of which are from oop north) plus Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and the like. I know two Boro fans who always target the Albion game as they live in London. The press however will bang on about 1800 travelling from the North East, Its just not true.

Whilst it would be very difficult to quantify how many are from the SE or not, it is certainly not unusual to see fans of northern teams on the train back to Hastings after games, getting off at various stations along the route. I am sure that as Sussex is a pleasant enough place, with little real trouble at the Amex, many fans of other teams who live in this region, target the game at Brighton. Long may that continue -it is all revenue for the club.
Probably 5 times as many to be fair.
That's great if they have sold 1800 tickets. The reports of 2000 could be credible with those deciding to pay on the day.
It will be good to see the stand full of Albion fans behind the south stand goal.

1,800 to 2,000 away fans is impressive under the circumstances and yes some may have travelled from London, but the majority have travelled from teesside. Like said earlier, I wonder how many Brighton fans would have made the trip if it was the other way round? 3-4 coaches?
Boro will be taking 6,800 to Blackburn next week, even more impressive... Utb

So not happy with berating their own fans for daring not to stay until the bitter end, some Albion fans now decide that Boro don't come from Boro. I seriously don't know whether to laugh or cry!
