Prompted by hearing him played on the wonderful "Planet Rock" and subsequently rummaging in his back catalogue. Nice hair.
I love this thread. it made me go back and search for covers I've only just remembered and suddenly you unearth some real gems, like this one for example.
I remember the original by The Boxtops and Joe Cockers version back in the early 70's but this live version by Joe must have been recorded just before he died and is simply stunning.
The Temptations original is a Motown classic that I loved, but this version by The Faces put a whole new slant on it. This was recorded about the time I saw them live at the Top Rank Suite with Nazareth supporting them, what a night that was!
Talking of Nazareth, Joni Mitchell loved this version of her song apparently.
And I can't leave The Sensational Alex Harvey Band out of this thread.

Back in the day I wasn't that keen on the original by Cream, but then decades later I heard this live version by Jack Bruce with Gary Moore.
