Everybody's first game is always a boring 0-0 draw. It's a cunning plan by the Albion to make sure you don't have unrealistic ambitions of glory...

Mine was a 0-3 home defeat. So I've certainly never had any unrealistic ambitions... It's pretty much been an improvement ever since.

Anyone with more than two brain cells would say bugger that, I'm not going there again but once you go to the next game you're hooked for life.

I'm still here almost 40 years later. Fortunately I don't have more than two braincells...

Thankfully mine was a 2-0 win against the Palace in 1987. I think it was Barry Lloyd's first win as Albion manager - at the 14th attempt apparently!

1 'home' win in 17 games and we still got 6,339. I took the family: it was my middle son's first game age 2. I did take my eldest son to the Goldstone age 3.

And Richie Barker only made the bench!

I didn't make my Albion bow until the following valantines. We lost 1-0 to Exeter and Hart got s/off
