I went to my first game - Brighton 0-0 Doncaster, very very boring dont know why i ever went again!

I remember they were giving out free love hearts before the game, how nice.

Thats all :)

I'm assuming that would have been Fans United (part 2) at the Priestfield stadium.

Quite an achievement to get 6,500 on that day!

It was an absolute shocker of a game though - probably the worst of that season (and that's saying something)

i remember there being some kind of heat wave that day and it was BOILING, then we had quality strikers up front in Mahoney-JOhnson and Steve Barnes down the wing

I think the ball spent a total of 11seconds on the deck that game

and people say it is bad now!!

Jeez, Mahoney-Johnson was useless - in the Richard Tiltman class of striker. Didn't we also have Lawrence Davies up front that day - or is memory deceiving me? I've tried to expunge most of my recollections of that game from my mind.

You never saw them at the Goldstone Zesh. Looking at your profile I see you are 17.

17 and never seen the Albion in their own ground. Bloody hell, That sums up what we have been through! (Thanks Archer, Thanks a lot)

No, you're definitely wrong about the weather. I took my then girlfriend, an Aussie, to that game. Her first game in fact. Nice and romantic, Fans United II - The Heart Of Football!

It was easily the coldest day of the year. No doubt about it, absolutely f***ing freezing! Not helped at all by the game being utter bollocks.

Yeh i was only 6 when we left the Goldstone. I started getting into football at about 6, but my Dad never took me there, which does annoy me really.

His name's Graham and he was Brighton and a regular Bo'sum boy back in the mid 70's

Quite a character, I well remember a bank holiday with him when we led the cockney boys into all sorts of trouble on the seafront & took great delight as some got knicked. I believe he managed to get a few souveniers off them too.

I think he's into stock car racing now too. I remember him picking me up one afternoon and me hanging on for dear life whilst he sped around the lanes of rural Sussex.

Such antics I thought were long forgotten!

And people moan now about how bad we are and how boring the football is - Sake, GET A GRIP!!! 10 years ago was PROPER shithouse

Everybody's first game is always a boring 0-0 draw. It's a cunning plan by the Albion to make sure you don't have unrealistic ambitions of glory (although I'm not sure it's worked judging by some of the comments on here sometimes!)

Anyone with more than two brain cells would say bugger that, I'm not going there again but once you go to the next game you're hooked for life.

Is absolutely the right answer...

The Donny Fans United game in '98 was sunny, but it was cold too... I remember saying to a mate in the pub at the time that Steve Gritt had one of the safest jobs in management. He got sacked the week later!

Did Vilur Gislasson play? He was truly up there with the Ashley Neals of this world...
