- Free stuff out the Beano (usually a Dennis The Menace THUNDERCLAP)

- Celtic winning the European Cup despite a power cut covering most of Scotland

- The whole family huddling in Winter over a single candle. If it got really cold, we would light it.

- Cremola Foam. Just add water for a sparkly treat.

- Sherbet Fountains. ditto. The licquorice straw thing was about as much use as a licquorice straw.

- Cinnamon sticks. Sticks. That tasted of cinnamon. And possibly WERE cinnamon.

- Free milk in school. Under a Labour government. Obviously.

- Underfloor heating in council flats. Nobody could afford to switch it on. Obviously.

- Ginger Ten Pound Pom neighbours selling all their possessions to start a new life down under. The bloke from Radio Rentals knocking on our doors about a month later, enquiring after his company's telly.

- Muffin The Mule. Er, allegedly

Coming home late after footy, covered in mud.
Telling great looking birds that they were rough scrubbers, then they'd fancy you for being arrogant and rude.
Playing red rover.
Spazzing because the ice-cream van was playing its' tune outside.
shouting "rag and boooone" back at the rag and bone man.
buzzing slates at swallows and housemartins
smashing windows in derelict houses, or over the RAF Camp.
Tying things to your bike wheels.
catching pigeons
making loud eating noises to get your parents attention
flicking matches
Football commentators REALLY getting excited when ball hit net, and everything leading up to it really.
Grandads cooking - greasy and fatty, and he lived to 99.
Going to the pub and sneaking a sip of milk-stout.
Sunday drives to Drusillas Arundel Lake, Barcombe Mills or Chessington Zoo.
Picking blackberries.
Scrumping apples out of people's gardens
Fishing off the power station 'hot pipe'.
skiving off PE class, with the dodgy queer teacher
looking up girls skirts....well.......alright, that's not something you ever stop.
Calling a queer, queer
having a train set, or scalextric, ...and a gollywog.
