OSTIGARD LOANED TO COVENTRY

Albion’s Norwegian under-21 international to get his first taste of Championship football, after successful spell in Germany last season.

Leo Ostigard has joined Sky Bet Championship side Coventry City on loan for the 2020/21 season.

The 20-year-old defender was a regular in Bundesliga 2 for St Pauli last season, making 28 league appearances during a loan at spell in Germany and will now test himself with the newly promoted Sky Blues.

Technical director Dan Ashworth said, “Leo has done well during pre-season, on the back of a really impressive spell with St Pauli last season; one which sparked a lot of interest both here and abroad.

“The Championship has been an excellent testing ground for some of our young players in recent years and we want to see Leo to make the most of this opportunity.

“Playing in the Championship presents a different challenge to what he would have experienced last season in Germany. We’re looking forward to see how he adapts and we wish him well.”

Brighton factually.....
“The Championship has been an excellent testing ground for some of our young players in recent years"

How feckin good does that sound on so many levels....

Leeds, Massive, and any other deluded fan of a once mighty club languishing in the lower leagues or newly promoted club that still have delusions of grandeur....

Read that, read it again and again until it sinks in..

With Clarke gone and Duffy off, this is absolute proof White is signing a deal. NO WAY would we get rid of THREE CBs this close to the start of the season if we thought there was any risk of White being off.

Not sure Coventry is quite as cosmopolitan as Hamburg (or Brighton) hope he settles in well!

One of my best mates used to play for Cov (but back in the hartson, chipo, saffri, hadji, Shaw, Williams era) and most of the players lived outside Coventry - leamington spa was popular - which is a very nice place.

Good move that. Coventry will likely be battling relegation, so could be the making of him

St Pauli were also battling relegation last season with safety only assured on the penultimate matchday. He's been there before. He was highly thought of at St Pauli with his impressive displays. Playing for a championship club is a good progression for him.

Going from playing at St Pauli to St Andrews will be quite the culture change too given the surrounding neighbourhoods!

Our favourite defensive rock star turned scout, Gordon Greer, was also raving about his performances in Germany. We're gonna have to sell a centre-back at some point next summer aren't we?
