Hard to draw conclusions from one thread, but strikes me that many fans have accepted VAR, especially this
season's minimised version. I still think that view will unravel when some "golden moments" get ruled out by
VAR, or blatant bias is shown.
The offside was called by the linesman!!
Fans have always moaned about decisions, VAR certainly hasnt stopped that.
Its a poor trade off, we still have poor decisions, inconsistency and bias, but
now disruption to the game at vital moments.
That's the point, though. No VAR intervention in a memorable comeback victory. All good.
The less VAR is used the better it is, it seems. So the best could be to simply not use it at all.
As in the Championship. This debate is not a hypothetical one.
Is definitely the case that the use of VAR is much more lowkey this season. Begs the question though about where we are going to end up.
If something improves the less you use it, may be its best to not use it at all. Fans at Championship club claim this is the case, a relief to
have no VAR...
All part of the glorious game's heritage. Maradona's cheating was cheating, but outrageous and audacious at the same time.
What is painful is never being quite sure again that a goal is a goal, thanks to VAR. That really is an attack on football's soul.
But those two goals are some of the most iconic ever in the history of football.
Imperfections make history. VAR's search for perfection just ends up causing other problems, other injustices.
You're obviously a VAR fundamentalist,, which makes you unable to recognise how much damage VAR is doing to the live experience of seeing a game. Damage that even the Premier league themselves acknowledge.
And that's ok. Its inevitable that fans will see and experience VAR differently...
The marginal offside calls are very far from black and white. The technology doesnt support that level of precision. More importantly,
those marginal calls are directly against the spirit of the game and disadvantage attacking play unfairly.
The key reason it has to go, (and will go, imv), is...
Agreed. Coaches are just as bad, one-eyed as cyclops.
My view is just get rid of it and go back to the ref deciding.
Fans of Championship clubs all say the best thing about playing in that league is no VAR.
Celebrate a goal without fear of it being overturned.
Is that so?

Sick of VAR ruining the game, we made a song: Reclaim the game....from VAR
Please give it a listen. Best played loud.
