Afternoon all
Not been on here for ages again. I think since I last posted I have taken on two Ultra's. The first was the SDW50 on the 17th April. It was a brilliant event with the Aid stations being fab despite the Covid restrictions. The rolling start meant we spent long periods of time...
Hello all. Long time no post again. I got another NO from London Marathon in the ballot today, anyone get a place?
My running going OK at the moment as I continue Ultra training aimed at the SDW50 in April. They will decide 1st March if it will go ahead. Running to a plan, but this weeks...
Belated Happy Christmas to all fellow NSC runners! Great to see the boss (knocky1) on Christmas morning, met a couple of other footy mates not seen since February to do the Hove Prom Parkrun. It was great to be back running on Hove Prom. With the stay local lockdown could be a while before I...
Finally got round to resetting my password again, been off here for a while again!
Anyone doing the Sussex Downs Trail run from Plumpton on Saturday? I have a 10.45 start time. Weather forecast looks dire and they have already said before today and tomorrows rain that the course is muddy...
I did the Beachy Head Marathon on Saturday. Really really well organised, with the a big holding pen at St Andrews prep school fields, where you stood on little disks to maintain social distancing before being led to the start line in groups of about 20 people. You had to wear masks until you...
Afternoon all , not been on NSC for a long time. Still doing lots of running and actually managed an official race a couple of weeks ago, the Lake Dorney marathon. The weather on the 4th October was not great and the marathon was 4 laps around Lake Dorney, it was tough as a nasty crosswind...
2020 has been a tough year as in the last 3 months lost my Father-In-Law , and more recently my Aunt (Neither COVID related), so added to that my Boss leaving work so my workload through the roof plus Lizs recovery from her knee replacement op has been a long, slow painful process, but she is...
Afternoon all. Had a great run on the SDW again on Sunday. I ran from Devils Dyke to Lewes (just a little over 13 miles).Liz dropped me and picked me up so great not to have to return into the very strong headwind! Lots of runners out at 7.30am, so glad I went out early. Next time I might do...
I am quite surprised that both Manchester (11/10) and Brighton (20/9) have not cancelled again. Dublin was due 25th of October and that has already been cancelled.
At the moment I only have the GSR (18/10) & the Poppy Half (7/11) left on original dates . Next year however is pretty busy...
Morning all. Not been on here since lockdown as my password link saved on my work PC. Finally got round to getting it reset so now have access! Not read through the thread yet, its still the only one I really read on NSC, although I did look at the refund on season tickets for this season...
Not posted for a while, been busy building up the training miles. Just over 3 weeks to Manchester, latest e-mail like all others says its on at the moment, but IF cancelled they are looking to run it in September or October 2020.
I ticked over to 301 miles for the year on Sunday, just one more...
Yesterday was errrrmmm interesting and certainly challenging! I started the weekend with an easy paced parkrun at Highbury Fields (first time I have done one that's 5 1/2 laps!) before heading to Sheffield.
Race day and it was good to see Guinness Boy in the start pen. I was aiming for 1.45...
The Forecast wasn't too bad yesterday, now it looks hideous! I am meeting some mates at the back on the blue pen or front of the yellow pen. I was going to target a PB of 1.45 as well but it doesn't look ideal TBH! Perhaps the diversion up two side roads on the long drag back from Brighton to...
I am not sure why its such a fast course, 3 x 180 degree turns, a couple of cobbled areas, plus quite a few bollards to negotiate. On the plus side a smallish field, no pedestrians or dogs in the way. Both me and my mate got PBs. I think its getting a reputation as fast, so lots of fast...
I think Brighton HM has a big drop out rate, looking at previous years around 7,500/8,000 is the usual number that actually run. As you say it already feels crowded so if a big increase in numbers could be a crowded run!
Sounds like a good weekend of running and some great times at the Bedgbury race.
I finally managed a new PB at parkrun yesterday. I did Victoria Docks and clocked in at 23.05 (64.40%) so a 12 second PB. So 49 parkruns and 24 locations now done and am planning to do my 50th at Tilgate next...
Has anyone looked at this year Brighton HM course? A few changes to last year, not so far out past the marina, a longer loop up to the level from the sea life centre roundabout, a loop up Bedford Square and also a loop up Grand Avenue. I hope somebody has had the good old tape measure out after...
I ventured over to parkrun location 23 for me on Saturday - Hastings. A great course for a PB, just one problem on Saturday - they forgot the finishing tokens! I wasn't sure what the bloke on the finish line was shouting out but as you got to the end of the funnel they said remember your...
