Still alive, thank you! Hope it was good. The reissue label I mentioned a few posts above have just released a couple of old Close Lobsters sessions on 10”. Maybe I should stop wasting time on Twitter so much and get back on NSC instead….
I saw Pavement at the Roundhouse a few weeks back. It was everything you could hope for. They started with Grounded - which was pretty spectacular - but then went straight into Gold Soundz, which was just perfect. If they ever do another reunion tour, I’m going to have to get tickets for every...
The toughest choice Garth has to make every week is who to put in as goalkeeper. For the rest, it’s just who’s scored a goal this week - high concept journalism at its finest. Still, he’ll be pleased we all read it!
Feeling very sad this evening. We played Just Like Christmas at our wedding and it became our special anniversary song. Last saw them at St George’s and they were great, as always. Think The Curtain Hits The Cast is my favourite - so much space and emotion between the notes, then it goes...
Hi everyone, just found out my new boss at work is the son of Paul Fuschillo who made 17 appearances between 1973 and 1975 alongside a number of Albion legends, scoring one goal. He was a bit before my time, although he is on my cherished Albion spreadsheet. Anyone remember him?
If you’re interested in the forthcoming WRNTDP album, you need to be quick - he only releases in ridiculously small quantities. If you miss out, scalpers on Discogs charge crazy prices. Re A De P: my eldest son was the driving force behind our leaving - he hated it and said he was leaving, even...
Thanks for your thoughts. I heard BCUC from afar - sounded like a good refreshing Sunday sound. I do think EOTR has the best food of the festivals I’ve been to, although they’ve lost one or two of my former favourite stalls. At least Happy Maki is still there as a good lunch option. Boys loved...
Relatively quick summary of End of the Road from my point of view:
Had to miss Lucy Dacus - thought the kids had an inset day today, turns out they didn’t so needed to get them home. Black Midi put on quite a show - mixing it up, changing lyrics, etc as per usual, but pretty thunderous, amazing...
When we went on holiday, I turned off everything apart from a fridge freezer and my special, quite small, soft drinks fridge (it IS special). The electricity was 81p per day, so knocking off 30p standing charge, I reckon the fridge freezer was about 40p per day.
I’m looking forward to Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan - stark nostalgic electronica. Plus Nilufer Yanya, Cassandra Jenkins, Alabaster Deplume, Automotion, Mandy Indiana (going in reverse order of relative obscurity). Plus whatever my kids want (Black Midi, Deathcrash, Anais...
