My view is that it's essential for us to win this game to add a winning mentality to the dressing room, even if it is against a League Two team.
However, the risk of playing close to our best starting XI and losing would plummet morale further. I'd like to see the kind of second XI that GP was...
Yeah, I probably should have put in the Villa data after the second, though I think the avg only increases by a few of minutes with that lead accounted for. As the Newcastle game was a complete outlier, I thought it probably would have skewed the results misleadingly.
Indeed. And the one time this season where we've taken a two goal lead, against Newcastle, we went on to win. It seems like Albion either need to figure out how to hit a second quickly, or steady themselves after going one up so they don't concede soon after.
Though it wasn’t 3 points yesterday, it was wonderful to come away from a game feeling something close to euphoria. It got me thinking that throughout games I’ve felt that often this season, but by the final whistle it’s usually been deflation. Usually this is because we’ve lost points from an...
Yeah you can tell he’s not a natural midfielder as he doesn’t push play forward. Difference when Lallana came on was huge.
Not Ben’s fault though as he’s a CB and is doing his upmost best whichever of the handful of positions he’s called to play in! I do fear though, as one commentator...
Have always believed we look most dangerous when Maupay and Connolly start as they have a good understanding. Excellent goal and if that overheard kick had gone in I think it would have been the best Albion goal I’d ever seen!
I agree with pretty much all of this.
On White, I’d echo what one of the commentators said: he risks being a Jack of all trades but master of none. As with all his midfield performances, he rarely puts a foot wrong from open play, but from what I see he doesn’t get the ball and then drive...
Through the circumstances of Yves' card and Aaron's injury, GP made exciting, positive substitutions that bred hope rather than despair.
Aaron almost scored PL goal of the season.
I felt more elated than deflated at full-time!
What I probably enjoyed most today is that due to the way the game panned out with Aaron's injury and Yves' yellow card, Potter was forced to make three cracking substitutes. All three substitutions were absolutely the right choices at the right time. I actually felt excited by all three as it...
So far, he looks very similar to Aaron. He's a positive influence in terms of his energy, movement and hustle. However, he's probably not got as good a first touch or finish as our other strikers (bar as low as it is).
Even if Davy doesn't start, it's heartening to know we have a like for like replacement for Yves (though not quite as good as him, of course), rather than a square peg in a round hole.
I'm still Potter out, even though I'm obviously delighted that we came away with a point after the position we were in at half-time. In that light it's certainly a point gained, but it's another game without a win. We've shown again that we have fight, but that winning instinct is lacking and...
Following the last game I slipped into the Potter-out camp. However, I have an odd feeling that we'll win 2-0 tonight, based off of no tangible proof. My score predictions are rarely correct, but oh well, I'd love GP to turn it around so I'm going to stick with the mindless optimism too!
THPP, my career background is working in children's nurseries and secondary schools, whilst my wife is a primary school teacher. When working in nurseries (and my wife I imagine in a primary school too), I've come across this and it's definitely something to be mildly concerned about. Heck, I...
And a cursory glance at his position for AZ Alkmaar was as a striker as well (right-sided as part of a 3 mind you), so in some ways it's encouraging that GP is trying to play him up top as opposed to in the midfield if that's his preferred position.
I ask only because I think that long term vision of the club you referenced in your OP is not as long as we first imagined.
As a regular poster who’s probably seen me bleating on about this in many other threads, please forgive me for what I’m about to write: the club in October posted an...
I haven’t read all 7 pages so forgive me if somebody else has already mentioned this, but for all those critiquing the OP: we finished on 41 points last year. If we’re supposed to show progression to one day reach the lofty ambitions the club repeatedly publicises, we need even MORE points than...
