[Sussex] Name a famous Sussex person.

Camilla Parker-Bowles-Wales-Windsor grew up in Plumpton, was baptised in Firle and went to school in Ditchling (and I think, occasionally to some of the school's premises in Lewes too).

[Albion] Aaron Connolly - joining Hull permanently

That'd make me feel like that now, let alone at 22/23!

    [Misc] Changing tastes. A question..

Great idea for a thread. For me I think it comes down mostly to being a lot more selective than I used to be: Developed an appreciation for: Dressing better. Nothing flashy, and everything is from eBay, just better, longer-lasting quality (literally all my clothes but undies and socks are...

[Travel] Jamie Murray in train SHOCK

I think it's probably all connected. Cheaper public transport with a simple flat fee structure that doesn't require looking for the best price creates jobs, improves productivity, is environmentally advantageous, creates greater social mobility and so on. The cost of our public transport is one...

I think it just means you don't get the free socks and whatever else gets sent to MyAlbion+

Something about this triggers an emotional response in me if it catches me off guard

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

If Prigozhin fails is Putin still mortally undermined? I'd imagine the crackdown on any kind of dissent is going to get even stronger

    Bell Cheeses at work

Aren't they only allowed to deduct for days spent on strike?

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Unverified footage allegedly showing Prigozhin with in Rostov with the Deputy Minister of Defence. Possibly bigger news is the rumour that Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff and defence deputy to Putin, is hiding from Prigozhin in Rostov. Presumably capturing him would be a big deal, but...

    [Albion] Tenuous Albion Links

FDM stopped his car for me to cross the road at a zebra crossing in Haywards Heath a few years ago. I was on a conference call once that had Gary Bailey (boooooo) on it too.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

It reads to me like he is laying the ground for Putin to blame his military and withdraw...or heavily implying a leader who is so deceived isn't fit to lead. Whatever it is it's a curious development.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

I don't know if they hoped for less damage but they didn't think through the consequences - there are credible reports of a worsening cholera outbreak in parts of the Russian army because the dam being blown up has affected their supply of drinking water.

[Misc] Companies you hate, and will avoid using/buying from if you possibly can

Sony - have had to use their customer service twice and it's by a big margin the most obstructive, Kafka-esque and illogical I've ever encountered. Seems almost designed to be difficult to get an outcome in the customer's favour and blunt to the point of rudeness. Just Eat, We Buy Any Car...

[Misc] Christians seem to be really good people

No, it blatantly doesn't have to be either God exists or a group hallucination. It could equally (and what I think) be a totally made up story by the Apostles / people who wrote the gospels because it suited their aims to entirely fabricate the myth of physical resurrection. Enough people...

[Misc] Christians seem to be really good people

This kind of incredibly reductionist, binary argument is why I think this is a troll. It's obvious that early Christians believed in resurrection, that doesn't mean it happened and there is a God any more than it necessarily means there was group hallucination. You have to look at why they...

[Football] Saudi consortium to take over Newcastle

As many as 1 in every 47 people in Saudi Arabia is a victim of human slavery and in forced labour or worse. There should be some level of prohibited trade but obviously oil overrides principle.

[Finance] What is 'rich' in 2023?

I don't think I know anyone whose salary increases in recent years have enabled them to do much more than stand still. The only people I know who are getting meaningfully richer are people who clear their mortgage and so drastically reduce their outgoings. This is less a function of salary and...
