yeah, whilst I don't feel like this will put TB's overall aims in jeopardy (as we knew this would happen), this season feels like pretty much a write off at this point.
losing caicedo/mac to chelsea in jan would be salt-in-wounds territory, however, and doesn't bear thinking about
this. will be a transition period this season, but TB's ambitions were never going to be achieved in a linear fashion. there are going to be setbacks, like this. and it will be a good measure of how talented our squad actually is, and how much is down to GP.
obviously the vultures were going...
kjell knutsen is a great shout from Swansman. him aside, would be very interested in roberto de zerbi or franck haise. suggested marcelo gallardo or Ivan juric on another thread but they'd be very tough to prise away from their current clubs
it's all relative. our budget and squad was a lot better than Swansea's but Chelsea's is better than ours. if the owner convinces him that this is a long term appointment and he'll be given time then I see no reason for him to stay. point being, I think some of the observations about him having...
yes but it's there for a reason. there has to be some judgement on whether or not they've impacted the situation because otherwise you'd have perfectly legal goals ruled out because one of the attackers was down injured in an offside position, or just doing up their shoelaces
always been surprised that orsic of zagreb has never moved to a top five league. not a massively stacked CV, but looks excellent each time I've seen him play over various European competitions. perhaps he just loves being at zagreb
he's at too much of an important stage to be sat on his hands on the bench. and tbh I don't think currently he's better than the guys we've got starting. if he can get a season under his belt where he's one of the main players in a team, and show his quality on a regular basis, because it's been...
well I was there (east stand of all places) and it was decent. couple of good rounds of 'sacked in the morning' when we were two one up, and the crowd really rallied behind the boys after we conceded an undeserved equaliser. not quite the sheff weds playoff game but far from the worst i've heard...
the protocol is simple, hence why every other league manages to execute it better, unfortunately we have severe lack of a) refereeing talent and b) coaching and leadership from the PGMOL
yes there is. the monitor was not used to evaluate whether he
was offside or not, the var official had already decided he was, it was used to evaluate whether he impacted play. simple as.
not going to discuss the correctness of the decision but he checked the monitor because it was a subjective offside. mwepu didn't touch the ball so it was up to the ref to evaluate whether he impacted play or not
josip ilicic available too. getting on a bit and has struggled with mental health in recent seasons, but a top draw player on his day with an excellent footballing brain
6/10
got what we desperately needed, didn't get what we really could've done with but have signed some very interesting prospects and players who you'd imagine we'd get significant fees for. it is, however, very difficult to rate accurately when we have no idea how the new boys are going to do
christ. I mean, I'm disappointed we haven't got a striker but f***ing hell.
on a (slightly) separate note, leaving that facebook group is one of the best decisions I've ever made. makes this place look like a Mensa convention
