Lots of revisionist comments here. Only a few weeks ago plenty of people on NSC were tipping villa as our biggest threat in thread after thread. Esp after their performance at the amex.
Newcastle were 2.94 (on BetFair in July)
Norwich 3.8
Villa 3.9
They were the favourites (and odds reflect where the money is going, not the bookies POV)
We were 4.5
They have a game in hand, but tonight, we're 20 points ahead of Villa. 20 POINTS
They'd have to match our results and make up nearly one point per game until the end of the season to catch us now.
And FYI - we're 15 ahead of Norwich.
I don't think anyone would have predicted this.
Only 8 teams have scored more than us away from home now.
And only one of those is more than 3 ahead.
We're second for goals conceded (8 v. Newcastle 6)

Good points, well made. I'm looking back because it makes me realise how much better off we are despite having near identical points as last year. I don't expect a slump and as youpoint out - we're so much stronger than we were. I think the run to Jan 17 will show this.
Didn't say he was at fault and not worried about a slump. Merely pointing out the facts. My expectation is that we'll keep on doing just fine (with the odd wrinkle). I thought it would be interesting to keep track of the equivalent seven games to see how we're doing this season compared to that...

Got one point from the first of those seven games.
We got three from the equivalent game (game 20) on Friday.
So we can't do worse - we can equal it (if we lose the next six) or better it with a single draw.
Agree they are both superb - and I'd say they are both more reliable than Fossie. But I'd be surprised if a Prem side came in for either. If a Prem team has an issue at CB they will buy proven Prem quality (from UK or abroad) not take a punt on a Championship player stepping up. Too risky.
We'd just beaten Birmingham at home (2-1, remember all the one goal wins last year) and come from 2-0 down to beat Charlton 3-2 at home.
19 games - 41 points - +11 GD and undefeated all season. Then this happened:
Dec 12th - 1 point
2-2 draw away at Derby having led twice.
Dec 15th - 1 point...
