TBH the counter protests I've been to in Brighton have always been peaceful. Racists arrive by train, escorted by the police to do their march and are massively outnumbered by people telling them and their views are not welcome.

Have done so in the past and certainly would again. The counter protests are always v well attended in Brighton.

What we're seeing now is outbreaks of outright fascism. Houses daubed in racist graffiti, setting fire to asylum accommodation, targeting Mosques, physically beating minorities. It's been stoked online and by politicians for a long time but it's shocking to see.

If the protests are about immigration then why are muslims/mosques being targeted? Why are rioters chanting 'Who the f*** is Allah?' Trying to make out this is anything but racist thuggery is either incredibly naive or downright dishonest.

Funny really, I'm sure an argument could be made for the exact opposite of this given all the covid misinformation that was absolutely rife on social media.

The police also said they identified themselves as the main target of the rioters so made the tactical decision to withdraw in order to attempt the disorder from spreading further. It worked that night, although they wouldn't have foreseen how it would be twisted by other groups.

Disgusting. Really wouldn't be surprised if we see a real crackdown on hate speech content on social media. Certainly EDL / Football Lads Alliance need to join the list of proscribed Far Right groups.

Were people claiming the people being arrested were 'innocent'? The objection was to the potentially deadly force used in the arrest.

    [Politics] The Labour Government

It's a sad state of affairs that the Government has to budget to protect Religious groups, unfortunately people like you who consume and spread lies designed to whip up hatred are to blame.
