Agreed. Having Robinson a) mostly fit and b) pretty much out of the England reckoning made a big difference too.
For me, the primary signing for next season needs to be a quality number 3.
Great post.
I think I mentioned in elsewhere on NSC at the time, but we ended up standing in the queue for buses at Roma away with Jon Filby. I'd never met him before but he was really open to chatting about Sussex, his hopes for the season etc. He came across as someone really capable...
I was very much on the fence about how KS would be as a PM. I thought at least he'd be sensible and a safe pair of hands, and that we'd see political rather than personal issues making the news.
As it is, I don't see a huge difference yet with the previous government. There's still u-turns...
Agreed on all of this.
On Potter specifically, I thought West Ham or Palace might have gone for him when Moyes and Hodgson left. Perhaps they did and GP didn't want, at that stage, to walk away from the money Chelsea were/are still paying him.
My issue with the private schools thing is that in some areas of the country, where there are only a reasonably select number of 'good' state schools (my area of the North East being a prime example), is that the extra pressure created will a) make it harder to get places at those select state...
This is where I am too. I strongly suspect that they'll get a points deduction of the magnitude that will prevent them from winning the title but won't be enough to relegate them.
Holding out some hope that it is just a bad sprain rather than anything like ligament damage. If it's the latter, we're looking at a minimum of 2-3 months I'd guess. Messi suffered 'minor ankle ligament damage' at the Copa America final in mid-July and is targeting a return to fitness mid-late...
You could make a solid argument for Sterling not getting in our match day squad. He's not getting in ahead of Mitoma and Minteh. Adringra would be ahead of him in the pecking order too. And then you've got Gruda as well.
