Mooy owned the midfield that dreadful (bloody cold) day in Huddersfield during our first season in the Prem when we had one of our worst away performances. I think we took the Greyhound off at half time - AK flounce?
One of our group called him the puppet master. He looked unstoppable that day.
Of course it is. But it's not in every club that there is a sea change in approach to playing style. Some of last seasons "nailed on" starters might now not fit into the new style. That's where the interesting debate is occurring I think.
It's a conundrum isn't it. If any of last years signing step up, there will be real selection headaches.
And what about Propper playing further forward if we sign a central midfielder?
Chatting to an Iranian I know in Tunbridge Wells last week. Didn't find out much that we don't anyway know but:
- those Iranian fans are mad about him (no sh1t)
- they follow him everywhere
- he played a bit of a blinder in the non-game at Pompey
- has been reassured by Potter and feels he has...
Are we all happy with this? Feels like a good signing, but our budget (seems ridiculous to say this) puts us in the bracket who have to take more risks with signings. No proof that he'll thrive at Prem level, but better this gamble than solely rely on the legendary, but ageing, GM or Potter's...
Was at Middlesex v Kent last night at Lords. Kent fans very lairy and unpleasant in the ground and very yobby on the tube. Not pleasant and a bit of a surprise.
