    Age range of NSC users

I was in the 26-34 bracket when I first started posting on NSC - does that count? Sadly, I've moved up several brackets since then...

Good ways to learn a Language?

Quick guide: Rotterdammers like to rrrrolll their rrrrs. Hagenaars sound like they're talking whilst chewing a toffee. All Amsterdammers appear to have a serious throat disease. Limburgers sound like they're inhaling helium whilst talking. Groningen and Friesland - hard to tell, they're...

Good ways to learn a Language?

The Rrrrrrotterrrrrdam accent is rrrrrrrreallly rrrrrrrrrough on the earrrrrrrs though. (Granted, not as bad as "cough/rasp/splatter" Amsterdam... )

Do You Use a Man Bag?

I carried a satchel to school in the 1960s. What's the difference between a satchel and a man bag? It's a genuine question.

We had a local band called Nouveau Vélo. They weren't bad - a little bit like Diiv - but are extremely unlikely to be playing any of the other dates.

They've flipped the set over since 10 days ago. They now play the album first +1, then an extended encore that is in effect a second set. Works better that way around in my opinion.

Early days ..look like a relagation battle though!!

ADbJLo4x-tk Oh wait, hold on. I'd heard there was a Bing fest going on in here. Turns out it's just a regular old binfest. My mistake. As you were.

    [Music] The Live Music thread

I guess it was more straight out rock than I was hoping for, with fewer of the Zappa-esque twiddly flourishes that I hear on his records. But it was probably also partly to do with it being late at night after a long day on the beer, and me coming down off a PJ Harvey high. She was, quite...

    [Music] The Live Music thread

Last week we only got two other songs but that was a festival, so time restricted to a one-hour set. Looking at their theatre setlists they start with four or five 'greatest hits', then play the album, then more in the encore(s).

***County Championship Division 2, Glamorgan v Sussex, Colwyn Bay, 28-31 August***

Colwyn Bay? That's about a four-hour drive from Glamorgan. Would have been more of a home match for them if they'd held it in Hove...

    [Music] The Live Music thread

As in the previous post, saw Interpol play TOTBL last week, and I'm seeing them do it again tomorrow night in Tilburg. Hearing it all played live in a row just reminded me of what a great album it really is. Not a duff tune on there. Talking of great albums, I'll be seeing Leftfield playing all...

Was a little disappointed by Ty Segall when I saw him at Pukkelpop last week. But then I was coming off a triple high of having seen PJ Harvey, Strand of Oaks, and Interpol (playing TOTBL) immediately beforehand.

    [Politics] Brexit

Nicely edited your pointless insult out of that reply I see. Edited: for the record, I don't think quoting economic figures at this time provides any evidence whatsoever about the impact of Brexit, either positively or negatively. We're still in for another almost two years at...

Big Board to celebrate it's 3 millionth post today!

It's a bit like buying a lottery ticket for last week though. The milestone was passed several hours ago, as has already been pointed out several times on this thread. Reminds me of the old "£10 to the last person to post on this thread" thread, which people were still trying to win about...

Things that annoy me on holiday...

Every time I see someone with a selfie stick I am struck with an almost irresistable urge to do something like this: NqpNQ9AJYgU And more literally, whenever some young "traveller" in a hostel pulls out a guitar.
