This is reminding me of The Sunshine Shop in Burgess Hill (long gone, I assume).
To add to the list: walking round building sites after the workmen had finished their shifts (as you'd imagine, they were plenty of these in Burgess Hill in the late 70s/early 80s). I remember getting into...
That's a pretty good combination, although, much as I like Real Estate, more than about 30 minutes can become boring due to lack of texture, lovely though the music is. I would think Real Estate are a little bit heavier live. I would hope, anyway.
Honeyblood - Honeyblood: I was attracted to this by the single Killer Bangs, which sounded like a C86 girl group colliding with Those Dancing Days. It's not a bad album, although it fades somewhat after track six ('Biro'). The album's a bit more polished than I expected - feels like a band being...
So, ELO have sold out with their ridiculous new song "Mr Blue Sky". it's going to alienate a lot of fans. The beginning of the end. Still can't get into that Clash album - guitar sound is too tinny. Now, if you could name just ONE song by Emerson, Lake and Palmer...??
If we had a "ONE Erasure song" thread, A Little Respect would walk it. If we had a "ONE Wheatus song" thread, I'd think the theme had gone bizarrely WAY over its tipping point.
Posse - Soft Opening: If Frank Black took the Pixies and melded them with Yo La Tengo when they're being quiet, but occasionally borrowed the guitar from Lift To Experience, but not that often, and sang songs about small pieces of everyday life, it might sound like this. It's very pleasant...

Still haven't got round to playing that C86 reissue. It's an odd one, because it was never a "Best of ...." kind of thing, and some bands offered some of their worst songs, so it's a worse collection than, say, Bob Stanley's CD86. Also, I was never a fan of the Ron Johnson/Captain Beefheart-y...
