    [News] FFS Brunei

But what is the alternative? Go without the oil, and you walk instead of using your car? An Iraq-style invasion to change their ways? Yes, their methods are dreadful, but then so are those in many countries in the world, sadly.

Do you not think that you getting beer is rather a simplistic way of judging such matters?

Good for you. I have nothing but respect for what that generation went through and achieved during the war years.

[Albion] Official Albion v Manchester City FA Cup semi-final planning thread Sat 6th April, 17.30pm

Thanks for that -all info helps. I am only gong by the timetable at the end of the match on that day. It might have been that you were simply lucky in that as you arrived, one was due? Or perhaps they run shuttle trains after huge matches?

[Albion] Official Albion v Manchester City FA Cup semi-final planning thread Sat 6th April, 17.30pm

Just been looking at this. Wembley Central is 28 minutes from Euston and trains are frequent. Wembley stadium is from Marlyebone, and is closer to the ground, but trains seem only to stop there every 30 minutes -might be a long delay afterwards? Both would mean you approach from the west -our...

[Albion] What a shocking performance today vs Millwall

Yes. Montoya was particularly at fault in this respect. It was really quite poor, again, away from home, but at the end of the day, we won through however undeservedly, and it is time to get behind the team in 2 weeks time and then again for the semi.

[Misc] Mosque shooting in Christchurch, NZ

I am sure the thoughts conveyed in your last para would be echoed by all sensible people, who only wish to live in peace and coexist with their neighbour. But your first para rather contradicts this - whilst nationalism undoubtedly contributes to hate, you have conveniently left out that muslim...

[Politics] Schools 4 Climate Action - great turn out in Brighton

That is far too simplistic to assume that older folk are cynical. Yes, progress towards combatting climate change could certainly have been quicker, though it is really difficult to get everyone on board, given national self-interest, but changes have been and are being made, albeit too slowly...

[News] Bloody Sunday - Soldier to be prosecuted

Fascinating that on the other side of the Irish Sea, they talk of how the public interest is served by charging a 67 year old for historic crimes . .

    [Politics] Brexit

That is certainly true of the last few weeks -a deal was agreed and we are unable to stick to it. However, what you are conveniently ignoring, is that the deal may be the best we can get as a result of possible EU intransigence. Afterall, it is not in any way in their interests to have a...

    [Politics] Brexit

I am not sure that the EU have made things difficult, as the OP said to whom you were responding. But equally, I am not sure that they have been willing to make things easy. I don't know the intricacies of all the negotiations, and let's be honest, you weren't in it on it, so nor do you. So your...

[Albion] Yves Bissouma - a potential top central midfielder in the making?

Yes, absolutely -with game time comes consistency, which is still lacking somewhat, but the prospect is undoubtedly promising.

[News] Bloody Sunday - Soldier to be prosecuted

Yes, I know that you are leftie, but also that you served . . Yes, you are right - what is now to be gained? Is it in the public interest? I would not have thought so, given that I imagine the vast majority would see that the process would be one-sided.

[News] Bloody Sunday - Soldier to be prosecuted

Whilst I would always support the military, and give them the benefit of the doubt when they are put in highly-charged situations, I also see what you are saying. When it then gets nasty, is when we suspect that less than enthusiastic efforts are made to bring IRA killers to justice, as the...
