I have no idea what our striker budget is, so I can't really answer that. I accept that the club know far more than I do, but to me 3.5m seems cheap for a Premier League class defender. I expect they know what they are doing and will get him a little cheaper.
What worries me, is that if we don't think he's worth 3.5m, is he good enough for the Premier League? I understand we don't want to pay it if we don't have to, but......
It's OK, even quite good news, but I seriously hope that Sam is the back up to a new Premier league standard striker or two. We've got a huge leap in class ahead of us and I just hope that Hughton gets the financial backing that he will need.

I'm looking forward to watching him and of course I hope he's going to be a success, but I think I would have been more comfortable with Stockdale. Hopefully it's just me being nervous of what's to come and he will be a big step up in class.
