Really enjoying these so far. Kinda works having the dynamic of the host not necessarily knowing too much about our players/history, whilst you paint the Albion picture for him, from an enjoyable angle that I can relate to (a lot).
That's incredible news. First player we've had called up by Spain (I'm guessing ever) and it's a youth team graduate goalie who was playing in League One last season!
Delighted for him.
Agreed. Forster may well be the least agile keeper in the league (not surprising given the size of him), but I don’t think many keepers are getting near that header. Text book from Dunk, firm and directed downwards right in the corner.
Indeed - add it to the winner at Leeds, the winner at Liverpool, the winner vs Spurs, the winner at Villa etc and you’ve got a collection of great team goals we’d have only dreamed of not that long ago.
Agreed, he gave us all sorts of problems that night with his direct, powerful running (Bale-esque, even). Fairly sure that was a lot longer than 2 years ago, mind! More like 2016.
That sounds about right. Definitely remember being stood, and I’m pretty sure 95% of chants sung by our stand that day were related to being in said stand. The other 5% being waving off Dave Kitson after El-Abd got him sent off in his usual WUM-fashion!
The club decided to stick the Pompey fans in the east stand (can’t remember exactly why) and so for one time only - unless anyone can remember any other occasions - they opened up the away end to home fans. Thought it made sense to finally tick off every stand at Withdean, plus of course the...
His chance creation stats invariably up there with the best in the league, season after season.
I’m so glad he’s managed to force his way back into the first team of late in the deeper role, as it did look a little like his days were numbered under Potter. I know people use the raumdeuter term...
Brilliant (and highly encouraging) stats.
Either other sides have moved on from the tactic of super-attacking wing backs (were absolutely all the rage a couple of seasons back, in the 3-5-2), or we're now just doing it a bit better than most.
I agree that that angle makes it look like there was no contact. But I'm struggling to look at that still image and envisage March pulling his leg away with (at the moment that was taken) an absolutely maximum of a millimetre between them, as that appears to bear out. It would almost defy physics!
I think the still image on that article is fairly conclusive proof that Solly did make SOME contact with Trezeguet's shin (for those claiming he didn't). Still no-where near enough to cause him to tumble like he did, of course, nor enough to make it a penalty.
