I'm not suggesting that there haven't been errors in recruitment. That's another subject. It's more that the club cannot just throw money around. I would have thought that they will make another profit at the next set of accounts. But it may not be as much as folk think. Not only that, there are...
Quite. There are eight teams that the Albion cannot compete with financially. Further investment will always be dependent on profit in the transfer market. Even then, the club has to be careful. I'm sure we could list plenty of £50m duds that those bigger clubs have signed.
Tony is focused on a...
Low budget really is TB saying that he wants the club to be self sustaining. The only person that makes up the losses is him. I'm fine with that. I don't think he should pay for the chase for success, he's done enough.
Without Tony Bloom we are a third division club. Folk forget that.
'Long haul means long haul' is my point but in a slightly different way. Our enjoyment in being Albion fans should never be solely dependent on the results on the pitch.
I was trying to think how to explain it best, but remembered a piece I wrote about the match at Wolves in 2017 when promotion...
I have the same problem. I've been once in four years. The bizarre thing being I watched Albion home and away all through the mediocre and downright awful years but have seen next to none of the greatest live !
It doesn't mean that at all. Folk have different circumstances. I can understand why you would stay at home. But I think, for supporters own sakes, if they can get to the match they should try and make it a special night. It may not come around again for a long time, if ever for some.
You're probably aware of my difficulties. But having been there, often with you, home and away during the shit times, I think I need to try and get there if this is the first and only time I get to see them in a European match. I owe it to myself.
When folk reflect on where Albion were, what they have achieved and how well they have done to sustain the level they have, I hope they feel a little bit silly at their raging.
If not, they could always go and support Manchester City or Chelsea. Okay, maybe Chelsea isn't a good idea.
One thing...
Why not ? It seems an impossible task, but it could be a great night for folks even if the team fall short.
And it may be the last European match for a long time. Some of us may not live to see another one.
If Albion have the 14th biggest budget, and have had to compete on many fronts having had amongst the worst of the injuries, I'd say they have done okay.
