You mean.....have some perspective?
No, that's not going to happen.
(This is a very weird thread. The conflation of the cost effectiveness of coal fired power stations, the demise of the UK coal industry, and the plight of heritage railways, in an incoherence pie.)
But these trains are rubbish without smoke.
I'm now convinced. We need to renationalize the coal-powered electricity generating industry to ensure the survival of heritage steam railways. The logic is inescapable.
Scargill claimed Thatcher wanted to close the pits. The mines were privatized (sold off), then asset stripped and finally closed. He was right.

I don't think that subsidizing (nationalizing?) some coal mines in the UK is justified just to keep the Bluebell line open. In any case why can't 'we' import some coal from India for such purposes?
The story is about the closure of the last UK coal fired power station is it not (unless I have...
Let me stop you there.
(You sound like you are about to outline a simple solution that has a clear and unequivocal narrative with which nobody would disagree. We all have one of those  )
It has apparently been cheaper to import it from India rather than make it here for some time. Perhaps if we paid the welsh a few rupees a day it would become cost effective.
You are surprised that Farage told some lies? ???
Where the f*** have you been for the last 20 years? :lolol:
(I appreciate you were being ironic
At least, I hope you were.)
Some delegate oaf has just addressed the main stage at the tory conference wankfestival, to urge that Enock Powell (who was 'disgracefully' ejected from the party) be rehabilitated because he was right about foringers coming over here.
Greeted with some applause and no boos.
Just when it...
