Of course, the problem with them abroad, fine if your on a business trip and want to get somewhere quick, no fuss, etc but I've had some great experiences abroad by talking to and subsequently employing the driver for a few days. Meals at their family house, trips out to restaurants only locals...

For what it's worth I think the drivers get a good deal. I'm sure they simply wouldn't do it if they couldn't make money , who would. My beef with Uber is their tax structure.
I'm not sure what's got your goat about this. It's a fact that Uber don't pay UK tax. The only debatable part of it is whether this is deemed against UK tax law or not. Margeret Hodge lodged a complaint with HMRC in 2014 urging them to investigate this matter.
Like I state, these are the...
From what I can see Uber do not pay Tax in the UK. They pay Dutch corporation tax. They really should be forced to have a London License base and to pay UK tax.
I imagine Bozza, this is why it nigh on impossible to get hold of any published UK profit figures. They seem to not be under any...

I will try and source a longer period and more well known source. Bear with.
As I stated above, these aren't my points. I'm listing key points from the video for those who didn't want to watch a RB video, as some cannot stand him. If you'd have watched the vid you'd have seen that I am merely listing the points raised, not endorsing them. But you wouldn't be you if you...
I don't deny Uber are a great convenience. I understand that people want the cheapest option available. My only question is, is it ultimately good for the UK. I don't know. They have good sides and bad sides.
They may not be a monopoly in London yet but they are in many towns across the globe.
They charged £150 because of the Tube strike. Now, of course this cost reflects severe demand. I believe they also charged through the roof when people wanted to leave the centre of Sydney after those coffee...
No one is inferring they do use Google tech, although they may well do, I don't know. I was saying they are part funded by Google. I then went on to say that some tech firms are consciously trying to not do business with Google, be it using their tech or engaging with their non-tech platforms.
What do people think of the Google aspect? I know quite a few of the more important tech companies and e-platform companies in the city are trying to de-google themselves and trying to stop doing business with them. Simply down to the insidious way google are gather consumer information and the...
It's not really a thread about Brand but I take your point.
Yes, for the moment they undercut cabbies but I think they are already putting their prices up so that won't last. What do people think about them sending their profits off-shore and denying the UK it's taxes? It isn't really very...

I'm undecided about RB but this makes many good points.
If you don't wanna watch the vid the key points are:
Owned by Google and Goldman Sachs
Sending their money away
Don't pay taxes locally or in the community
They are now raising fares as they...
The only thing I would do different is get him doing hard labor. By that I don't mean the outdoorsy, Cool Hand Luke ditch digging type of labor, I mean the pointless walking around on a giant hamster wheel, Oscar Wilde style labor. 12 hours a day of that should fix his wagon.
That may be so to you but I've been in a very similar situation to the OP several times in my life ,the details of which I won't go into. I bet my suggestion would help more than most on here.
