I was thinking that as well. If they were a company making commercial decisions on that basis then they would not be in business for long. I'm sure Portsmouth council had the same attitude when building that new tower, hence the millions of pounds it cost local tax payers when the commerical...
With the transfer window having only just opened is it significant that we unloaded Knight so quickly? Do we need the Leon money before we bring in other players, if so what would have happened if we hadn't sold him in this window?
I can only assume that Mcghee has one or two players already...
Kevin Doyle seems to be doing OK at Reading. He was one player we were interested in signing during the summer. Surprise surprise Reading snapped him up before we did.
Remember this guy being linked with the Albion a few weeks ago? Supposedly watched by Mcghee a few times.
Well it has got interesting again after he turned down a transfer to a Swedish team this week leaving the way open for an english championship team to move in during the transfer window.
Re: Re: Red hot phone numbers
And its the same old story after the transfer window closes - too expensive, didn't want to play at withdean, wanted to fight for his place at his current club, snapped up by another club at the last minute, wages to high.....
I used to watch Bristol Rovers play quite a bit back in the late 90's and can remember Barry Hayles being a real class player. I seem to remember he was sold for £2million to Fulham which at the time was a pretty big transfer fee for a lower league player. He ain't no target man though.
More worrying is the "they don't have any money" bit! it is a bloody good job we sold Virgo, Currie, Cullip and Harding for £2million+ otherwise I think we would be in administration by now.
I was wondering last night whether a reason for FDM not playing against Southampton was that an offer may have been made for him for the Jan transfer window?
Leon Knight leaving is a good thing now. He clearly has an attitude that ain't going to fit in with the way our club is run. Thanks for the goals that got us to the Championship. Lets hope any money we get for him is well invested in the squad. Signing Mcshane would be a good starting point!
