Yeah, you're probably right. The crowd felt huge and it's gone down in folklore, but those were the numbers, i just checked. So guess have to go back to when the South stand was a terrace for when we got crowds higher than today, early/mid 70s? Before my time I'm afraid.

None of us really know what our crowds are for evening games, the true attendance is never reported. It may well be that Athens will end up being the biggest Albion crowd at an evening game in the all-seater era, because we know that all tickets are being sold to people who can actually go.
