Ah yeah, my mistake. Most sources do just refer to a 'knee injury' whereas the Athletic has it as a 'torn meniscus' - so the same injury Enciso has. https://theathletic.com/4202103/2021/08/22/brighton-tie-solly-march-to-new-three-year-contract/
Do you really think its as simple as that @Napper ? I like to think there was coaching involved, with a good balance between attack and defence. The goals conceded was an issue under RDZ last season too.
Aside from tactics, I think RDZ' style of play requires an amazing shot-stopping...
To me its clear he's playing a long game. Giving the whole squad minutes and giving lots of rest should pay off during the long run-in to the end of the season. I think you can only judge what he's doing now, and compare with Villa and West Ham, during the final third of the season.
Take Villa...
Potter eventually found the balance, his last 15 games saw 16 goals conceded and 7 clean sheets. Yep, he had Caicedo, Mac Allister and Bissouma available for much of that, but more fundamentally he had managed to solved the issue of us conceding goals on the break, of defenders chasing the ball...
Totally agree. Moreover, Sanchez wasnt some experienced, established keeper, he is still young and learning and needed an arm round his shoulder, not the cold shoulder.
RDZ has thrown this, just like he threw the Villa game. In many ways i don't blame him. We can play first choice XI, high tempo, really trying, and probably still lose. So throw it, retain energy for winnable games. Away at City, Pool, Newcastle, Villa - reckon they're the four hardest games...
I generally agree with you. But wouldn't it be nice to have a keeper who makes a good save now and again? Especially as we forced out a bloody good keeper to make room for Steele.
Are you actually serious about that first goal? Steele just starts falling down before Alvarez even kicks it. Any decent PL keeper stands tall and just catches the shinned shot.
