You're onto something here by questioning the space travel hypothesis however, there's a bigger picture at work. There is some sort of phenomenum but no-one knows what it it. People assume "aliens" but that's just a dumb-arse label. We simply don't know what it is. It may be something else yet...

Plausible, science based, rational explanation fanboys and people screaming ALIENS, ALIENS are both stabbing in the dark at the moment, until we actually have something to work with.
