Getting a bit hairy atm, score seems to have frozen and still only 140 ahead with 6 wickets in hand.

[Sussex] The Award-winning official "No Rain Tomorrow" thread (2023 season)

No thunderstorms approaching I'm afraid...there were some bubbling up near Le Harvre earlier but they have moved NE as expected.. nothing showing in the Bay of Caen where ours usually originate. Stand down.

    [Cricket] The Ashes- England v Australia- 1st Test, Birmingham, June 16 - 20, 2023

I think that the huge significance of Ashes cricket played a part in the umpires non-decision.. going to be huge pressure to try to get play for the broadcasters and the sell out crowd and so they put off the inevitable abandonment well past the time when they should have just said " thats it...

    [Cricket] The Ashes- England v Australia- 1st Test, Birmingham, June 16 - 20, 2023

I reckon this is called for the day....Could be a tricky first hours play which may decide where this Test is going.

    [Cricket] The Ashes- England v Australia- 1st Test, Birmingham, June 16 - 20, 2023

It was coming. Bit of moisture about and the Convicts had some time to rest and rethink... this has tipped their way now. best thing that can happen now is for us to lose the rest of todays play to rain and give England time to rethink and eat up match time and start to rebuild in the morning.

    [Cricket] The Ashes- England v Australia- 1st Test, Birmingham, June 16 - 20, 2023

Well, this could be interesting on resumption. Will the ball do anything after the rain I wonder ? ...still reckon a draw is more likely.

    [Politics] Johnson inquiry verdict

Sadly, you are correct..the 5Live phone in featured loads of people who believe Johnson and the Tories have done a good job over the last dozen years.." I'm 150% behind Boris " said one woman. Turkey's/Christmas...its so genuinely sad.

[Finance] What should the government do about the coming base rate mortgage hike time bomb?

I made it through the 80's and early 90's thanks to doing as much overtime I could and cutting outgoings to the bone. We went without nice holidays, meals out and for a few years stopped going to the pub entirely...I would have 4 cans of whatever crap lager was on special offer on Friday. But...

    [Football] Malta v England

What a pointless, neaningless and petty goal. Future footballers need to have their arms amputated if they play defence.

We didn't get the two wickets so the pendulum swings South...yes, Smith could utterly destroy us on this strip.

    [Cricket] The Ashes- England v Australia- 1st Test, Birmingham, June 16 - 20, 2023

It's a reasonable gamble, they would only have managed maybe another 20-30 runs if they batted on til all wickets were down.. two wickets tonight would be worth considerably more as the convicts are a tad light in batting depth.

Great to have Moeen back, sad for Leach but great to have such explosive scoring potential in the late order. Edit: Sorry, that's mine.
