He absolutely needs to be working on that role on training. We’ve seen enough of him higher up the pitch to know he’s not going to make it as an attacking midfielder in a top 10 team, but his physical profile lends itself nicely to the position Wieffer plays, or in a double pivot. He will need...
Well I’m gonna stick my head above the parapet here and say I’m still not convinced that Barco has the best defensive traits. No denying that his technical level is very good but I think he may still need to work on some of his defensive work - physicality, isolated 1v1 defending, positional...
Even in his spell at right back last year it was clear that isolated 1v1 defending is not one of his strengths. However, he is very good at inverting into that midfield position where his strengths are far more suited.
Can you work your magic with If You Wanna by The Vaccines?
I always find myself changing it to if you wanna come back to Leeds. Maybe I can start singing if you wanna come here from Leeds.
🤣That’s a good point!
Do you not agree though re: Baleba?
I’ve watched him closely and he looks to receive on his left foot in very awkward spots when he should on his right. Likewise he’ll over manoeuvre to play a pass with his left. Wouldn’t say the same of Gilmour, Dunk or Gross for example.
It’s a fair point which I thought about including but then remembered Ferguson. Rutter is also not a great finisher (which I guess does make him a succession to Welbeck!) so not sure you’d want him leading the line.
Quite possibly. I think there’s still some uncertainty on where Baleba will...
I think there’s a few ways of interpreting this deal.
1) He’s an immediate replacement for someone leaving this window.
2) It’s a return to the fabled succession planning for when someone leaves next Summer.
3) The club have identified enough attributes in his game to make them think he can...
Ben White is always a tricky one with these. Undeniably an outstanding player as the fact he is a regular in Arsenal’s team shows. Was great for us but not in that ‘how will we cope without him’ stratosphere where Caicedo, Macallister, Gross and arguably Bissouma might claim to be. The majority...
Said it on another thread but getting into Europe will be harder than previous seasons. Outside the top 6 you have Villa, Newcastle, West Ham, Bournemouth and even Palace who will think they have enough to push for it. All have good managers and decent squads.
