Point 1, I can accept I'm just being a bit pendantic because I know what you're getting at.
Point 2, I appreciate your right to an opinion but would counter that whilst not the 'quickest' he is one of, if not the best 1v1 defender at the club. Its not all about pace
Bit of a moot point. Might as well say Messi isn't England level- because he's not English.
What evidence do you have that he struggles against pace, there has been various stand out performances that would suggest otherwise
I dunno. I reckon if he can cope with the likes of Arsenal, City, Liverpool etc. in arguably the best league in the world he might be alright coping with the pace from the likes of Hungary and Bosnia
I agree- this is what I meant by looking more comfortable on the ball than without. He's certainly got an eye for a pass and think would perhaps look more confortable at this point playing higher up the pitch. Could potentially play the Hinshelwood role quite well should we want to manage his...
Felt like taking him off at HT yesterday was the right decision, he really struggled that first half defensively. Not sure if a case of new league getting up to speed, understand the tactics or a combination of the above but a fair few times he was caught well out of position and rightly taken...
Probably his best moment in a Brighton shirt during the second half yesterday- looked assured on the ball and solid defensively. A few mistakes first half but overall Igor looks exactly what he is- a reliable back up centre back
My family and I came away from the game really excited by Gruda so shows how much it can be a game of opinions. Thought he looked positive, a couple of good touches and also showed he has a decent bit of pace
Agree with you to an extent- we certainly looked like we lacked something creatively once Rutter came off. Baleba sub was frustrating but ultimately right as he was a second yellow waiting to happen with the amount of defensive work he was having to do in there, and Forest's propensity to break...
Haven't read on through all of this thread but thought Rutter had a half decent game yesterday, some clever touches here and there and certainly puts in the effort- I have no doubt he'll come good. I think a few could do with tempering their expectations that every player we sign is going to be...
Wasn't too much to complain about or wrong with the tactics for me yesterday- a fair result in the end. The second goal JPVH got caught in no mans land trying to win the ball high up the pitch which let us exposed but nothing 'tactically' wrong, sometimes players just make errors and in the case...
Verbruggen seems to be consistently mentioned in connection with top teams- I can see him playing for one of the 'giants' of Europe
Outside Bart I would see Joao Pedro and Julio Enciso as most likely to be next to depart. Joao is just different class and Enciso seems like the type that will...
I would imagine for all of them experience of playing European football played into it. Aside from that I can only speculate that Dahoud would have been seen as a lower risk due to signing on a free, and perhaps Fati would have had some commercial influence being such a recognisable name/talent.
This is kind of my point, he hasn't been fit enough to play so it was strange to me that he would A) be selected for the national team and B) we would be happy with him going knowing he hasn't had a single minute (or second) of football up to now
Wow, I had never considered the concept of time...
Seems strange that he's been supposedly injured and not fit enough to feature in any of our matchday squads as yet, but is fit enough to go away and play for Poland
I wouldn't look too much into his form during Leeds relegation season, he played 11 games as a 20 year old playing in a new country having joined a relegated side mid-season. That's a tough ask for anyone to perform at their highest level.
Feels like exactly the kind of player that Real Madrid would sign, that's how good he is and can be. Hope we get to enjoy him for a while but he seems destined for big things
