A bit harsh to criticise the club for turnover of players. I'm sure they'd have loved to have kept the likes of Robinson, Terland, Le Tissier etc but the Albion don't have the money of other clubs. Were the men's team criticised for losing Mac and Caceido?
Jess Breach, current England winger, is from Pulborough. Amy Wilson Hardy (although the less said the better 😃) played for Hove and Worthing.
Tyla Shirley from Hove, who made her full debut for Quins last week, is an England U20 international - who knows, she may be in the England team by...
There are 22 rugby clubs within 30 miles of the Amex; what do you think they do? Play tiddlywinks
And that's not counting schools, one of which is one of the best rugby state schools in the country only a few miles from the Amex. And a pretty decent rugby playing private schools too
Yeah, this a massive boost to the club. There was competition to host these games and, from what I can gather, the Albion/Amex stood out. I gather that at least one of the teams will be hosted here and I know that there going to be coaching teams going into primary schools in the city to lead...
Been at a meeting to discuss Sussex Girls rugby. There was, needless to say, quite a bit of chat about the forthcoming World Cup matches at the Amex and the Albion were presented as a shining example of how to organise things. From what I can gather, much of the planning for the tournament is a...
By coincidence, my Uber driver home this evening played for Rottingdean and was bemoaning their relegation. Interesting chat as we knew a few players in common - although he plays at a far higher level than I ever did.
Kiran Carlson is another one of those players - like Wayne Madsen - who always scores runs against us. His 50 was inevitable and I suppose we can expect a ton later
The Wilhelmus doesn't declare loyalty to the King of Spain. He says that he's tried to be loyal and was for many years. But because the Spanish have been such barstewards towards the Dutch, he's been forced to fight against them, like David did against Saul.
Good for Tom Smith too. He didn't leave Sussex as the county failed to renew his contract. The fella's had his own personal tragedy in the last decade and if Sussex don't win, I hope Gloucs do
It was interesting. My eldest, who'd had a very traumatic start in life, struggled at school (to put it mildly). But she was transformed on the rugby field. She listened to instructions (she could scarcely pay attention for 30 seconds at school) and would attend every session, turning up on time...
Indeed, there's no Tesco in Reigate. I think our Simster's being economical with the truth
(in real life, I once worked for a supermarket chain as a number cruncher and researched a whole load of supermarkets in leafy Surrey)
That resonated with me. I coach girls rugby and I know of girls who have stopped playing because they were picked on at school for liking rugby. It was not seen as the 'cool' thing to do.
What exasperates me is that these youth clubs (and I volunteered at one too) were closed, to save money...
That's far too simplistic, although positive male role models will certainly help ( we didn't see much of the kids' home lives but the ones we did see all had a male at home, so it wasn't an issue with them). A far bigger factor is money: taking nine kids to India and kitting them out with...
:lolol:
Blimey, I had exactly the same thought sitting on the bog this morning (home to so many great ideas).
I was going to use this weekend to research it but it sounds like things are already in motion. My guess, BTW, is that we have.
