I used to be quite a large punter in the 80s, mainly Hove Dogs on a Thursday constantly leaving me skint for the weekend, meeting my future wife subsequently led to “that Avenue of pleasure being closed” which with hindsight I was very greatful for.
However in 1992 for a stake of 45 pence I won...
A group of us once met Chris Ramsey on a train, the conversation got on to hooligan groups (it was the mid 80s) He was surprisingly knowledgeable and was aware of The West Street firm but didn’t seem to rate them very highly in the league table of hooligans 🤣🤣
The ‘boy’ if you can call him that, he’s 15 and mature for his age, can basically get in ANY pub in Brighton if I fancy a pint, he’s ok with an orange juice, his phone or will join the conversation if he’s interested.
Up in Newcastle we spent the Sunday afternoon doing a tour of all the city...
In 1982 myself and my mates were constantly sitting on the wall opposite that Sainsbury’s. We’d have seen them (and possibly given them a good hiding as well 🤣)
I think I sort of misunderstood/inserted my own narrative into the first post. I think I was thinking about Wetherspoons which is shite but I’d still not expect to see children running around, but like I said Brewers Fayre is a different animal altogether.
It was the bit where you EXPECT kids to be running round a Brewers Fayre etc (However on reflection if it’s got a Charlie Chalk’s I suppose they are gonna run back to the table)
Anyway enjoy your hols
Why? As you know myself (and Mrs PWK to a lesser extent) like a drink and also I’ll never claim to be father of the year, but when the boy was little we’d go to places with a high chair and he could do his colouring or a bit lego or whatever and occasionally I’d step away from my busy schedule...
I still watch and enjoy: Only Fools, Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Father Ted and Gavin And Stacey.
I used to but don’t now watch: The Young Ones, Two Pints, The Office or Brush Strokes (although I do still listen to Dexy’s Midnight Runners)
Smug pics from the home end all over Facebook? This is awkward🤣
[couple of notes, firstly I’m not giving my identity away on here, secondly we were quite smug and finally I'm not as short as Tommy Robinson, I was swaying like an MFI wardrobe after too much Heineken]
Done a stretch in Worthing once, I was the manager of the short lived William Hill in Montague St c1990 for about a year. Me and my good lady had just got together and we lived in Lyndhurst Rd in one room for about six months.
On reflection not sure why we didn’t settle there as we had nothing...
I knew I voted for them for a reason. When I get back from Liverpool Saturday night/Sunday morning with an extra 18p in my pocket that’s certainly gonna appease old lady PWK and certainly save my ears getting chewed off
My beautiful little girl Flopsy lost the fight earlier this month and my wife saw her in agony on the table in the vets and took the decision while I was at work. I say she lost the fight but Rabbits don’t have any fight when they get ill, they let themselves go very quickly, she had a good life...
