Fair enough. Not seen that angle.
Either way, high or low defense line - if we give the oppostion penalties and 2v1s against our goalkeeper, goals will be conceded.
It was working really well for twenty minutes. We were pressing them and not giving them the time to calibrate passes through the offside trap. Even when Palmer hit the post, it would have been called off for offside.
The loss had a lot more to do with giving the ball away in super dangerous...
First impression is that they're all very unused to the high tempo of the PL and how little time with the ball you have.
On a brighter side I think they've all shown there's a good chance they'll grow in to it. Bits and pieces of high quality.
He was ok at best. Arguably least bad in the back four but doesn't say much.
I'm shocked by how right footed he is though, doesn't even make a simple ten meter pass with his left.
When we signed Wieffer I said its a player we might be able to keep. One who will be useful for us but go no further. Bit like Veltman.
The role Wieffer is playing in is the most difficult one in the team. I expect him to grow into a good rotational midfielder but its not the new Caicedo or...
He certainly was not. He had a firm tactical view of the game and how it was supposed to be played. But as I see it you have to be able to adapt to opposition to be a good tactician.
No doubt in his understanding of the game but I don't think he used it very well other than to try and show off...
We had a naive approach and got what we asked for. Its not a massive issue - I've seen us naive in the early days of Potter and De Zerbi as well.
As long as the manager and new players learn a bunch from this (and they probably will), the loss is no big deal. It was always going to happen...
Wild stuff. Our manager and some of the newer players are learning a lot of valuable lessons today. I don't see us coming back but hopefully this doesn't end in silly numbers...
While the whole "lets see who can build the fastest car and then drive around in circles"-thing will never really appeal to me, I have to say that Walker really pulled me in when I watched a couple of historical competitions not long ago. Could see why he is considered a legend.
