Crystal Palace can't go down. Not with the squad they have compared to the others down there... it would be absolutely amazing level of failure. As I see it, no way it is happening. They're not going to have a great lot of fun this season but they should "comfortably" (ish) climb up to around...
Its important to make the job as inconvenient and unpleasant as possible to make sure absolutely no one wants the job. That will increase the levels of refereeing.
Or this billion pound business could provide its core employees with a decent meal after they've been out in the rain running...
The team is absolutely stacked with set piece takers. Pervis takes most set pieces for Ecuador, Julio Enciso shoots a lot of free kicks, Ayari took all the corners for Sweden during the last camp, pretty sure Joao Pedro was shooting free kicks for Watford... I'm sure I'm missing some.
I think...
Surely old loans must be grandfathered? And I don't think more loans in the near future is the plan anyway - the TB&PB has said the club want to be self-financing and this may well be the case now given the value of this gigantic squad. Or am I missing something?
Yup. I had this evil plan about falsifying a quote and presenting it as a factually exact representation of reality and then I chickened out when asked about it. That is correct.
It certainly wasn't an attempt to catch a real existing sentiment and put a generalised verison of it into quotation...
If sports follow the same laws as rest of society, it can't function as a business or people's movement (imagine ending up in court any time you kick someone on the shin in a pub league), and now when the sport is run by people who have no interest in football other than the commercial/PR...
Its a little fun how when I five years ago said "well, we're playing very nice football and creating a bunch of chances every game" and people mouthed off, "I don't care about the football!!! I only care about the results and the league table!!!"
Now five years later we've just won 3-2 against...
As you well know I share none of your football views (playing out from the back is bad, short passing is bad, having possession is bad, having a high line is bad etc.).
But he was at fault for our desire to hoof the ball into the stands or to their defenders for the entirey of first half? Or is that also down to the players?
So the 0-2 in the first half was the result of the manager and his high line, and the 3-0 in the second half was entirely down to the players.
I'm sure you would have said the same thing if the identical thing happened last season.......
Yes, we made bids for the PSV guy as confirmed by PSV themselves, and Eric Smith (St Pauli) also recently said we made a bid for him. Clearly there is a desire to get a CB in but I just don't think we were keen on going all-in for it given the adequate number of CBs in the squad. If (most likely...
Yeah because he's not very good in general and if he was someone starting 30+ league games he'd be a very weak link in the team. Sure, he's better with the ball than our other defenders but he is a careless duelist and doesn't read the game well.
Obviously the 4th choice CB in a mid tier...
I've seen a fair bit of "give my money back"-photos of Amex food. You be the judge if it tastes what it looks like.
Mind you the chillie things from yesterday looks like something I'd have gladly eaten.
But it was lazy, cowardly and useless... and they knew it. But I don't mean it in a judging way really - it looked fear induced rather than some sort of underestimation or demotivation. Too much "whatever I do is wrong so f*** everything and just get it over with" rather than a focused and...
I think our players are very much suited to this system, just not used to it. We have brainy defenders, not powerful ones. Giving the opponent 3 opportunities from failed offside traps will fit us better than allowing 20 situations like these happening every game:
Imo I think he's been a little too careful with the subs and could have changed more earlier on a couple of occasions. But very happy with the impact the subs have had in general.
