Superb. That was a really tight game. Fulham control the ball well but don't have the menace of Bournemouth. Think the subs forced the issue. Wieffer in particular who was great when he came on.

Anyone who watched it on the screen care to make a judgement on whether it was a stonewall pen or not. The guardian have decided it was 'contentious'
Guardian are right imho. Pedro was looking for it!

Personally, I'm surprised the Gruniad can spell Contentious. 🤣

Can I just say before the below, that I’ve been criticised on here before for not being biased enough to my team. I consider myself very fair when it comes to referees and perceived bias, but there can be no complaints from Fulham today.

A few Fulham fans are moaning about this on the Fulham forum. It was even pointed out there that the exact wording is, and always has been in recent times, “a minimum of X minutes”. This is to prevent this exact complaint, because unlike Rugby, it is at the referee’s discretion due to the clock never stopping.

We were on the attack in the final third, and you’ll notice that a ball in live play with one team mounting a dangerous attack, the referee will never blow until the ball is either cleared or goes out of play. This is to prevent farces like this:

Had we not scored or recycled back one more time, he would’ve blown, but the penalty was given 20 seconds give or take after the 5 allotted minimum minutes.

Tough titty on this one I’m afraid, and it was a clear penalty too.

Well we also played on after the restart for long enough for them to mount an attack, so there must have been some time to be added on.

Good.

The memory of (I think) Manor Solomon’s winner with their only shot of the game after we spent the whole game battering them but failing to score a couple of years ago is still strong.

I am GLAD it was contentious. I hope Marco Silva is on the verge of spontaneously combusting in fact.

I agree about the need for clarity for a referee to end the game. I'm not sure why the rugby rules don't apply. The match should only be halted after the time is played and when the ball goes out of play. The onus then being on any losing side to keep it in play. The above video is just nuts. No wonder the players were so snakey about it.

I’ll just add if we conceded a penalty 20 seconds over time, I wouldn’t be pissing my pants about the referee then either. That’s just football, within the framework of the laws of the game we have.

That Manor Soloman game was the ultimate smash'n'grab. We battered them only to get sucker punched, with Darren England doing his level best to ensure we didn't win.

And I hope they’re all angrily stomping their way all the way back to Waitrose on Fulham High Street in the sort of frothing rage that can only be soothed by a tub of freshly made organic houmous and a handful of artisan sourdough breadsticks.
Funny, I’m in Fulham and that’s how I plan to celebrate tonight

The 3 working class Fulham fans I was sat next to and chatted to on the train back to Lewes had no complaints over the penalty, thought a draw would've been a fair result overall though, but had seen it all before being beaten with a winner like that and said that we obviously had to beat them eventually. I wished them well against Palace in the cup. Handshakes and 'see you later mate' as we parted ensued.

Well that was just delicious. After years of Fulham either battering us or shithousing their way to undeserved, ugly, spawny, last ditch wins, I could not be happier.

Honestly, if before the match, you’d offered me a 4-0 win or a narrow victory at the death thanks to a 98th minute penalty that they’re absolutely fuming about, I’d take the latter every single time. And I hope they’re all angrily stomping their way all the way back to Waitrose on Fulham High Street in the sort of frothing rage that can only be soothed by a tub of freshly made organic houmous and a handful of artisan sourdough breadsticks.
sounds delicious

The 2 Saffers that I chatted to, felt we deserved it, for outrunning them and keeping going to the end.

I’m sure he will.
I’m sure he’ll also contest why it was given 20 seconds after the 5 mins was up - and if he does, then perhaps someone needs to explain the word ‘minimum’ to him.
