Again, agreeing with you both. This fella mentions the £20m.

Don't think he has been great, not to the point where a big club will pay the kind of money we'd want. I wouldn't be surprised to see Joao Pedro in our squad the next season as well. Right now I think clubs would take him at £50m but he could be twice that money if he lives up to his potential next season.

How much is he worth, or how much would we sell him for? Two totally different questions...

And I don't know the answer to either.

How many appearances?
Not even a full season injury free.
Any team is buying massive potential, arguably £50m is too much…

Excellent player nonetheless but lots to prove more broadly.
I don't think its possible to buy a 23-year-old established Premier League striker for any less than £50m.

But I think any interested club would think long and hard about it and considering cheaper options from abroad. JP scores a league goal from open play on average once every two months or so. Hardly a "must have"-player for any club right now.

Several big PL clubs are in need of a striker though and if there's not enough options on the market, there's some potential to sell him for a lot more money than his performances warrants.

No, we didn't - and now we are frequently guilty of thinking that we'll automatically sell X for £70M, Y for £90M, 2 or 3 times what we paid for them, or whatever, just because that's what we think they should go for - even though no clubs are wanting to buy them for that money.

But we're not thinking he should go for that money, we're thinking he should stay.

He's only 23 and he's a proven forward at PL level, and in the Europa League. Could you tell me of other proven players at that age who are available for anything like £30m?

I don’t see why we’d sell him for less than £70-80m given his numbers, but we could easily pass the £100m mark if he reaches his potential. He’s only 23.

Joao Pedro's game is not all about scoring goals though.

In addition to his 7 PL goals this season, he's also got 6 assists in the PL (and another brilliant assist in the cup on Sunday). 6 PL assists is the same as Trent, KDB, Eze, Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins, Bruno Guimarees, Amad Diallo by the way.

As well as the goals and assists, he does a lot of work off the ball and is a big part of our impressive energetic press. And on the ball he takes a lot of pressure of us at times with his ability to keep hold of the ball but also start attacks - see our winner on Sunday.

A lot of under appreciation of him on here, the boy is absolute class.

Around £60-70m is probably about right.

He's a top young player, scored 20 last season. 7 this with a quarter of the season to go and having missed a chunk through injury.

He also assists and can play striker, 10 or out left.

He's super reliable from the penalty spot.

He has the skills and footwork to get the fans excited.

He's also a home grown player.

He's still a little inconsistent and could score more frequently, but our game doesn't rely on a single striker to score goals. I believe we've had more different scorers this season than any other club? We aren't built to funnel goals through to Haaland.

Rutter cost £40m from the championship. João Pedro is worth at least £60m.

£64m. £16m of add ons that won't be paid because we said he's hopeless.
Are you sure they're not so expansive as to cover any trophies won with his participation? He's made five appearances in the Carabao Cup, which Liverpool are certain to win, 22 in the league, which they're also likely to win, seven in the Champions League. The clauses won't necessarily require him to have scored, or scored many, in those campaigns, and in any case he has scored at least once in all three

Yeah so do I....

Anyone can make up these rumours on bbc gossip - They are laughable.
Most of these rumours start from ex fanzines. This one comes comes from a rag called football insider. Their hacks are mostly Chelsea and Palace fans. I suspect this is their agenda to try and weaken Brighton.
Its appalling that the Beeb has sunk to such a level that it takes this nonsense as gospel.
Incidentally a lot of these rich club fan magazines have affiliations to the Mirror group newspapers.
So we can assume most of their reports carry the same sort of accuracy as the red banner newspapers.
