What is going on? We all knew his ability but his injuries and recovery time made him seem a waste of squad number. He’s undroppable now both as a player and captain.
Such a shame he’s struggled with injuries- he could be anything by now if he hadn’t, one of the very best. He’s made JPVH better too (or at least massively restored his confidence).

Do we know what type of injuries he’s had? I wonder if it was more sheer bad luck or there is actually something in his genes which means he gets injuries more?

A right old mix. His recovery time has been the real issue imho. If we can do a Welbeck on him (or, touch wood, we have) it would be a massive thing for us. A few months ago you’d have said he was off this summer, now he’s undroppable.
Funny old game.

Thanks. As you say it’s a mixed bag, no real pattern. He also gets stuck in a times…he certainly looks strong.

I thought he was excellent again today. He is also looking very confident: he is v comfortable making first time passes when previously he favoured a touch first before passing.

He’s a top man and v happy he’s with us.
Aue, if his distribution isn’t perfect its because he’s quite clearly been told to get the ball forwards and is the antithesis of Dunk who for large parts of the season has been guilty of slowing everything down.

Seemed very comfortable using his left foot as well recently whereas the desire to use his right at whatever cost in previous seasons has gone
