Decent enough first half. Started strongly, then fizzled out after the penalty. Some great interchanges and nice football occurring, apart from the final action.

Desperately needed that goal - otherwise Newcastle would have stuck with their 11 men behind the ball strategy, which is known to work so well against us.

Should be an open 2nd half, as long as Lamptey/Minteh/Baleba don't get second yellows.

Newcastle look good. Dangerous side who can score out of nothing. I'd put them as slight favourites. Both teams making silly stray passes - this could go either way.

Funny how differently one can see a half of football. Your opinion seems to be echoed on twitter but I thought we looked the better side and are playing some decent football
BBC also saying we 'scored out of nowhere' having had our 'backs against the wall' all half. What nonsense. It's been an even game.

Not sure how I feel about the that half.

I guess I'm happy that it's level. Newcastle looked comfortable with the lead - we really shot ourselves in the foot there. It was looking like an uphill task as we were pretty toothless and quite slow in our build up so to nab an equaliser from nowhere is an unexpected positive.

Hopefully we'll step up a level or two in the second half. I don't want us to get knocked out limply.

We’ve played ok, but poor in the final third. It’s still a big problem for us breaking down a team that sits behind the ball. I’ll take being level after giving away a very silly penalty. Need to try something different to break these teams down.

Good first half from Brighton - would like to see more tightness at the back when tracking back out of possession but progressing the ball well - Jack running some important interference in midfield which Newcastle more or less conceded in the first half and our front four looking very composed in attack. Pen completely against run of play but Minteh’s finish to equalise redeems his poor tackle. Mitoma befuddling the Newcastle defence.

Brighton looking the stronger team and controlling the tempo tbh despite Anthony Taylor doing his best to frustrate our flow.

We can do this - if we believe!

The bench is the key, I think we have one of the strongest squads in the division

Oh f*** off you snow flake
Edited my original post as using foul language on social media isn't my thing. I just think it's pretty disgusting that a supposed Albion fan can jump to a comment calling one of our excellent young players 'brain dead' for making a mistake.

Thank goodness I'm usually at games and don't see the match threads. Back to the game ... thread on ignore.

Not sure Newcastle could be accused of sitting behind the ball 😄

We know that Fab often subs players on yellows but three at half time would be a bit extreme. That said, Gomez for Lamptey and Hinsh to right back looks a no-brainer. And I expect to see Ayari for Baleba at some stage.
