I expected they would open the whole thing to all fans, ultimately football is a communal experience, so if you're just going in there while half my mates are elsewhere its not going to get utilised very well, but thats on them I guess.
Amex cardholders (I am one) are not an exclusive bunch. It's just a credit card anyone can get one.

I got one when they partnered with the Albion to support their support of the club. I think this is a nice perk, and I guess I will have to bring along some my visa and Mastercard mates along. Although do I really want to mingle with the riff raff? ;)

The should prioritise Amex card holders by how long they've been a member (or how much interest they've paid Amex over the years 😀 )
I’ve never paid any interest in having an Amex card. Does that count me in or out?

What did you expect? The club will try and milk as much money out of everything, if Amex want to sponsor something they will take it.

They dont care if you just want to pop in somewhere for a pint, they have to make it slightly more complicated because it means they get more money as i imagine the sponsorship hasnt come cheap.
Why is it complicated ? Looks like its no more complicated than what was their before - when buying pints from the two kiosks. Except more food, more capacity, shelter, toilets and space.

There's a limited upstairs bit - for which as far as i can see just offers more chairs, and perhaps a better view, and another bar thats available - so perhaps less queues ? - if you have the card.

But it's not compulsary to go in there. By all means criticise the club when they force you to do something, but this is an optional extra. Don't like it - don't use it.
I'm not criticising the whole thing, there is one aspect of it, that I think is poor, especially if the area is so large I don't really see the benefit of it.

Is it a card anyone can get? With no caveats? I just think there is a large demographic of our fanbase who won't ever have the need to get one and never will do. I don't like a corporate sponsored additional space, it does have the sort of vibe that I think people won't from these sort of areas. Essentially most people want essentially a PUB, they can visit pre and post game to avoid the train queues, dependant on the size of the exclusive area, it could just become no different to what is available currently for a large portion of the fanbase, as I have experience of these Amex only areas at other events.

Yer I'm surprised it's any amex. Should at least be a premium yearly fee card or a platinum, for someone that doesn't have amex at the moment they may as well sign up and just use it at the match.

Also, how about Black amex for the roof with a pool and view of the pitch😉

Pass a credit check and you can get any of these without a yearly fee. Would be a no brainer if you don't already have one.

Yes I can pass a credit check though! I imagine a not insignificant part of the fanbase won't!

no issue , get a card that costs nothing and you dont have to use to avoid queues . If for some reason against that then just use the lower.

Looks pretty decent to me

Wonder what time need to get there to get admitted though. Post 12pm could be a struggle. Decent chance after if leave bang on the final whistle

Its more complicated if you want to go to the bit upstairs where you have to prove you have a certain credit card.

It’s also more complicated at the Amex to go and sit in a box or the 1901 club. But there’s the rest of the stadium to go in

I don't think that allowing home AND away fans should be an issue.....for the majority of matches. Just think that next season with the long journey coach travellers (Burnley, Leeds, Sheff Utd) etc will arrive pretty early and take up a decent proportion of the new bar.
Exciting times ahead.
