You could literally hear the north stand collectively holding their breath as it trickled over the line !
I can pretty much guarantee that nobody in the ground was closer to the ball crossing the line than I was in the front row of the North. It seemed to take forever, it was like watching crown green bowls from behind.

The team always benefits from a natural target man/focal point. J.Pedro does his best when played in that role, but Welbeck knows the role better.

Brighton need to be looking at young profile to eventually replace him. He's 34 now. Maybe Tzimas will become his successor eventually.

I hope so. Especially as I'm Irish. But he's just not looked right for a while. He was out of form before his injury.
Sorry, but he absolutely was not! In 2023 under RDZ he was targeted by Liverpool because he was f***ing them up. At Chelsea, for 30 minutes, I witnessed one of the best CF displays from any Brighton player (I’m an old fucker by the way) until Chalobah finally screwed his ankle. The fella has huge potential but needs to be physically and psychologically managed back by his club(s) and the ROI.

Ferguson was injured vs Liverpool last season. Late March.

He went 15 PL games without a goal before that injury. He scored goals after the Chelsea injury in 2023. He scored a brace vs Southampton and a hat-trick vs Newcastle. Some other goals as well.

He's been struggling for fitness and form since the hat-trick.

Agreed. But Fabinho got him Jan 23 when we pulverised Liverpool with EF leading the line. Chalobah got him April 23 when we pulverised Chelsea at the Bridge (could’ve had 3 in the first 30 mins). IMHO the lad has not been the same since.

If Welbeck was still at Man Utd, he would not only be in their first team, he would be one of their best players.
Remarkable that Man Utd under van Gaal released him to accomodate the terminally spavined Radamel Falcao.

Sir Alex knew how good a player Welbz could/would be.

If we get Europe, few players deserve to play on that stage more than DW18.

It seemed to cross much quicker when I watched it on telly, didn't seem like anywhere near enough time for the lengthy bout of gasping, gurning and head clutching I went though.

So pleased that Danny has equalled Pascal Gross' Premier League record of 30 goals, just seven more goals required to equal Michael Robinson's top tier record of 37. He could do it by the end of next season?

Same in the east. Watching the highlights back and I can't see the problem, but at the time it seemed to take forever.
I've watched it a few times and I think Huijsen thought it was going wide and left it, it was going SO slowly I was surprised he didn't make more effort to get to it
