Musk backtracking now pretending it was just a ruse after various departments told their employees not to comply with the order which exposed his impotence. He's obviously feeling a little humiliated to be coming out with this desperate explanation, which is humiliating in itself.

I think all EV sales are down.

We don’t have the infrastructure for them.

A friend of mine recently gave back his electric car.

I’m trying to get rid of my electric motorbike. It’s a total money pit. Beautiful looking thing but next to useless and cost a fortune to get road legal.

Range anxiety is real too!

Oh well. Go back and start again .

Like Trump he is a bully when it comes to business hence the email, however taking on the federal government service is not the same as taking on a business. When the various Departments sent out emails saying ignore his email they effectively said ’f*ck off Musk’. Now his normal reaction would be to sack everyone but in this case he can’t, hence his ‘it was a ruse’ comment.

He reminds me of (P)Rick from the Young Ones, only not as likeable.

I have an EV, gets me to the Amex and back (250 miles), parking at Lewes station costs me more than the charging.

I very rarely need public chargers, I used a 150kw one of the M6. Very good but pricey

My Audi Q4 has a range of 250 miles, which IS a little bit rubbish, but as i have got used to it, doesn't actually have any real impact other than on rare occasions.

I did have to resort to a Tesla supercharger the other day though, to get me home from business in Derby - which made me feel a little bit dirty. I'll try not to do it again.

EV sales are up compared to other vehicles, and the infrastructure has vastly improved in the three years I’ve had my EV. They’re still not the best solution for everyone, but advances are being made all the time.

Interestingly, Murdoch is turning on Musk via the New York Post. Whether it is jealousy, or fear of losing influence, remains to be seen.

It's inevitable with all the male egos around.

Is that really true? In Europe all new car sales are slightly down, but EV as a per cent of market share is growing (https://insideevs.com/news/751787/january-car-sales-eu-evs/). Looking at charging points around Reading in the UK (where I used to live) there is a reasonable amount of charging infrastructure - most of which is currently unused.

Several manufacturers have cars with a range of more than 500 km. How many people need more than that? My Scenic has a 500 km range in winter and almost reached 600 km last summer.

This isn't the right thread for this debate, but that's absolute nonsense I'm afraid Clampy. Sure, there's a mindset shift required and often more planning, but the infrastructure is more than adequate. And it's growing all the time. Which is probably why, as has been pointed out, sales continue to increase – as do the number of new EVs hitting the market.

And don't get me started on range anxiety...

Anyway, back to Elon...
