[Football] Are Southampton the worst Premier League team you've ever seen?

I hate the You've seen the Albion chant. We were so critical of the arrogance of other PL fans which, the season or so after we were promoted, were often heard saying things like "our fans are only here to watch the opposition team play" but now we are doing the same with that chant.

Shame i didn't think of it until too late after the game but i wish we'd sung " where were you when you were good " to their fans though
Careful … I made the exact same comment about the You’ve seen the Albion chant … as I also hate it. My comment didn’t go down too well with some on here that were no doubt belting it out thinking it’s funny. I would only sing it to United fans.

They must be because this never normally happens to me, but I genuinely felt sorry for their fans yesterday. They are absolutely dog shìt. And they may have all got off early (who wouldnt) but it was a sellout. They've been watching that crap week in week out for the whole season. No one deserves that. Even those wurzels.
Yes, I too had similar thoughts. Obviously delighted with an away win but you do have to feel for them -most will be decent folk, eager to support their team, as we are, and then have to suffer performances like that all season with seemingly no respite until the bitter end puts them out of their misery.

IIRC Forest had 9 shots on target and scored their 7. Yesterday we had 12 shots on target. Ramsdale was immense. Not all down to goalies obviously. We were a shambles at Forest but that seems to be behind us now. Gulp! That was a stupid thing to say. Sorry!

I don't think you can comment on one game, we have been torn apart a few times e.g. our 0-5 defeat against a not brilliant Bournemouth team. The league position tells you enough.

Probably

As an aside - noticed from your instagram that we missed you in the Belgian and Blues pre match by half an hour. Great place that. Planning to drop back later in the week to sample, a few with my elder lad.
In fact, we went back today, and very nice it was too.

I think they were the poorest side I have seen us play in the Premier League. Saints had absolutely nothing to offer yesterday, they were beaten before they stepped on to the field, no heart whatsoever. If it were not for Ramsdale it would have been a record win for the Albion. So glad we just took care of business with no fuss yesterday.
I thought they were the worst team after the first match at the Amex this season

I think any of the big / plastic 6 would be fine to sing it at TBH

Singing it at Southampton is a bit tinpot

Swansea were so crap in the PL we managed the double and we were shite.
Kinda sad the entire Swansea story.

Fan owned club that completely changes the entire game on and off the pitch (remember people laughing when they started with the GPS vests?). Many years of hard work and success... and then some utterly dumb yanks buy the club, make endless clueless transfer moves, get relegated and now they're hard stuck in the Championship with no light at the end of the tunnel.

That game and Cardiff 4 days later were my lowest point in the EPL, they were the 2 games which ended CH and that Brighton team is one of the worst I've seen at the Amex in the EPL. Stephens that night, FML.

Anyway, the worst oppo team I've seen at the Amex in the EPL were Swansea followed by Burnley last season (and we somehow drew 1-1)

Just far enough away from LDC
Having seen leicester play Brentford on tv on Friday, they looked worse than southampton in my view. Which makes the getting 2 points out of 6 against them and saints in nov/dec all the more annoying.

But Swansea 2018 when we scored 4 with locadia getting one on his debut they seemed awful but iirc they were on a 10 match unbeaten run before they played us that day

The days of Michu are long gone. Roberto Martinez made his name there in the English game to if I remember.

My lad had never seen the Albion score a goal let alone see us win before that Swansea game. I hand picked that home game and thank god it followed the script. He'd even had the "Why can't I support Chelsea like Grandad" conversation after we lost away at a shite West Brom.

I won't hear a bad word about that team. They even let Locadia score.

Although his distribution makes Sanchez look like prime Glenn Hoddle for passing
I believe his passing is excellent it's just the Southampton players are all in the "wrong" places. :giggle:

Comfortably. They weren't only dreadful technically but I didn't understand what they were attempting to do tactically in the slightest. Joe Aribo (who scored in a Europa League final playing at CF just two years ago) playing CB is mental, and completely bat shit when you have Stephens and Bella-Kotchap on the bench. Juric is obviously a better manager than Russel Martin at this level but at least there was a blueprint to what Martin was doing (even if that was silly and arrogant), with Juric it seems like he's come in and realised that the standard of player is so awful he's just got to throw everything at the wall and hope it sticks.

It does pose a question of whether a team should be able to get up to the Premier League and be so woefully unprepared for it. Spoke with a couple of Saints fans after the game who were lamenting the chasm between the Champ and PL, but I don't remember it being that large last season. Whilst the three sides who got promoted were relegated, Luton did offer some real resistance last year and the gap didn't seem that ridiculous.
