Has anyone managed to work out what's going on?

Trump wanted half of Ukraine's resources, in exchange for, as far as I can tell, a few more weapons. The US didn't say they'd get Russia out of Ukraine, they didn't seem to offer much at all. So what is this new deal supposed to be? I can't see it being anything half sensible.
Soon apparently.

I'm still puzzled as to why Trump expects Ukraine to hand over more value in minerals than the US have provided in aid / weapons.

At least the US have the incentive to stop Russia taking more ground if it is signed.
Think Zalensky should sign it and after the war say the contract is worthless as you said I am not legitimate

Yeah that sounds like BS. "“Here’s the bottom line: President Zelenskyy is going to sign that deal, and you will see that in the very short term,” Waltz said during remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)."

Waltz is just talking shit, it's not actually going to happen.

And why Ukraine would agree to such a preposterous deal? There's also the question of why Trump thinks Zelenskyy has the authority to give away the country's resources when Trump claims Zelenskyy is an illegitimate president.

The US aren't about to go from wanting trillions of dollars of resources to accepting a few hundred billion, and Zelenskyy can't just give the country to one dictator in order to prevent another dictator taking it.

“More” I could somewhat understand…but nearly triple?!!!

It's not nearly triple - $500 billion was what Trump claimed Zelenskyy agreed to off the bat, but then Trump said he wanted half

This is how the US exerts pressure...Waltz tells the world, including Russia and maga (I'll bracket them together), that Zelenskiy is going to sign it....

Which is why we must give Ukraine Russians 300 billion now so he can tell the orange one to feck off (but more politely).

Right, so it’s far more than triple what the US has given in aid. Extortion, pure and simple. Mafia tactics from a mafia man.

Yes. Something like $7.5 trillion. For what? It's mad.

Now I understand the daft idea that Trump could put out an outrageous deal, and then meet halfway, but that's not what's happening here. Trump has sided with Putin, against it's closest allies in the UK, Canada, and EU. Please someone explain to me how Trump isn't working for Putin?

Without Zelensky I suggest Ukraine would be part of Russia by now?

The guy is being sold down the river by Trump imo. Starmer and Macron need to stand strong on their Washington visit, it could be war defining.

Quite how any Western leader can align with the Russians is beyond my comprehension.
Because trump wants to be the American Putin - he absolutely envies the kleptocracy that Russia has become

I have no idea about such matters but couldn't Zelenskyy "sell" it in parts to various countries then the fat orange water sports enthusiast would have to make lengthy time consuming deals with those other countries.
Somehow they would still be Ukraine's but they would be in everyone else's safe keeping for say 5 years?

As a minimum, just to fukc Trump about at least.

The sooner those videos of ‘Russian women of night’ defecating on Trumps face are released, the better. I’m speculating about the content but I’m guessing that Trump is into the same shit as Hitler.

Or alternative, agree to letting the US have them once Russia is out, and then cancel the deal, given that it was a defunct contract based on extortion. Trump wouldn't like it, but he won't be president in 4 years time.
