So...

I go to get me glasses to put on and walk up the shop. I can't find them. They are normally in one of three places. Not so today. I'm pretty organised and hunting them down never takes long. Nothing, nil. They have vanished.

Most frustrating as I need them to drive, although other road users may be relieved.

So, in desperation, I now need left field suggestions to find my elusive extra eyes. Where better place than NSC.

No, they are not on my nose- I did make that mistake once before.
I've got my glasses, but have just missed my flight.

Clearly airlines don't make boarding passes for boys that wear glasses.

(apologies to Dorothy Parker)

Take a needle or pin, jab in it to something you'll not harm three or four times whilst saying out loud "Pin the devil" simultaneously.
Your glasses shall be returned shortly
You're welcome.

I feel like my fellow NSCers have not treated your plight with sufficient reverence.

Let me try to redress that.

Could you have left them on an Occasional Table?
Might they be on your Chaise Longue?
Do you have an Armoire? If so, might it be either atop or inside there?
Have you considered looking inside your Credenza?

Let me know if any of those yield the result you seek.
If not check the Davenport

Well, I have found me glasses. I sense the universal energy of NSC guided me in their direction.
Perhaps around the bed base or sofa? Sometimes mine ping Off if I’ve had a doze.
This was the prize winning entry, for they were blending into the background of the dark carpet aside the bed.. Hiding by the wardrobe, indeed pinged off last night whilst I supped my milk in bed, engrossed in an Alan Bennett commentary.

I was a little disappointed in the lack of puns that ensued. I would like to be more positive about them, but I can't frame it in any other way.

Thanks for letting us know, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get to sleep tonight.

When I tell my mates that members of a 'football' forum have found a lost pair of glasses of a fellow member without even going to his house, or even his town, I don't think they'll believe me... but it's true, isn't it!
Happy Days.

I left my glasses on the roof of my car in Hastings on the way to a playoff game (Derby?) some years ago, and had to watch the match wearing my prescription sun glasses. It was an evening match. I looked like a prat, and was several hundred quid out of pocket. And we lost.

Yes, it must have felt like you were punished for losing them.

I once had the opposite experience. At West Ham in 1990. Albion scored, we all went nuts, and my glasses came off. I asked those around me to look on the floor, expecting them to be returned in pieces, and the were placed into my hand without so much as a mark on them. Quite remarkable.

And now for some light music.

Not a quick solution, but a permanent one.

I wore glasses as a kid and progressed to contact lenses when I was 19.

45 years later I now no longer have any need for sight correction, but for close up reading glasses of course.

Can I suggest, to avoid any possible reoccurrence of lost glasses, get your cataracts done, even if you don't have cataracts (yet). I had my left eye done last November and right eye in mid January.

I see things in a better light now ....

Location Location
The blessing of the 2-for-1 deal. I have a pair of glasses that permanently live in the car, and another pair for the house.

The house ones can occasionally go walkies, as I am prone to taking them off and leaving them in a slightly random location (in the DVD cabinet, behind the upstairs TV, in the shed etc). After much tutting and cussing they can USUALLY be found, but one time I had to resort to the car ones because I just could not find my house ones anywhere - however, I am a great believer in the "they'll eventually turn up" theorem.

Sure enough, a couple of days later I went to the fridge. Opened the door and removed my car glasses whilst I inspected the contents (I'm short-sighted). I idly put the glasses up on top of the fridge, where I felt them brush against something. And yes, dear patrons, there they were.

I'm 53.

My funniest moment with glasses was when I was round a friend's house:

Me: 'Have you seen my glasses ?'
Friend: 'You're wearing them, Ian'
