Considering he’s had substantially less support when playing out of position at LB than our supposedly more rounded, better defensive RB has had, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. If he’d had Minteh in front of him on Friday, rather than Mitoma, I suspect he’d have looked brilliant defensively.

Saying that, I could’ve played RB on Friday with Minteh in front of me, such was his shift in front of Veltman (and yes, I’m joking).
What formation do you think we used when out of possession?

Some of his tackles in the last two games have been outstanding, maybe he is better defending on the left though i will add we played 5 at the back for a lot of the chelsea league game .
He had Pedro Neto in his pocket (after an initial error) in the cup game.

In the league game, Chelsea recovered Neto from T’s pocket and stuck him at left wing so that he couldn’t be pocketed again. Meanwhile, on the other side, Madueke was a handful for our boy before he got injured. Sancho came on and was put into the left wing position with poor Pedro Neto switching back to right wing and ending up straight into T’s pocket.

Still playing left back. Still looking good (I have wiped Forrest from my memory banks). First goal came from a Tariq tackle reaching JP before his one-two with Georginio.
I am happy for Estupiñán that he is back, but the last few games Tariq has made me feel comfortable that Pervis can be rested if needed.
Does Tariq go back to sharing right back with our dark lord? Does he make the starting 11 with Pervis and Joël fit?

It seems that FH has so many fit central midfielders now that they are lining up to play full back! But I think Pervis needs a number of substitutions appearances first before he regains his starting position, he and Velts are clearly our best full back pairing which is unfortunate for Lamps and the central midfielders hoping to grab a starting role in defence.

He's still behind Joel, Jack & probably Ferdi when fit at RB, so no. Absolutely not

'ahead', as in the manager's (& our) opinion. He's going to have an ideal 11 or so in his head
Baleba's obviously 'ahead' in central midfield...
Unless you have an inside track, I don't think we know the manager's opinion on this and I doubt that it's fixed. Surely he'll have been impressed by Lamptey's last three games and re-evaluated him at least to some extent.

I'd love to see him sign a new contract. He has slotted in seamlessly in the absence of Pervis. He can play either side of the defence and gives an alternative option in a wide attacking position.

I understand that Pervis and Ferdi are likely to be preferable choices but having a competitive squad is essential.

FH, if he walks the walk, is always prioritising (1) intensity & (2) train like you play. He may have an ideal 11 but (again) if he’s true to his word then ‘ahead’ shouldn’t mean play unless you nail 1&2.
